Top Headlines Levine walked one and allowed four hits, striking out six. She allowed an unearned run in the seventh inning to the Eagles in helping the Hornets improve to 10-5 overall, 8-5 in the Hockomock. Mansfield took control with a pair of third-inning runs. Meg Birnie singled and Jackie McPherson doubled, both coming across the plate on a Liz Moore base hit. The Hornets made it 3-0 in the fifth as an Erin Keogh RBI-single scored more. Then in the sixth, the Hornets scored three runs on three hits with Moore having an RBI-double and Birnine having an RBI-single. The Hornets entertain Oliver Ames today. King Philip 17, Oliver Ames 0 EASTON - Jen Jones pitched a two-hit shutout and the Warriors pounded out 20 hits in a five-inning game shortened by the mercy rule. Jones limited the Tigers to just two hits, walking two and striking our four. Cara Daly smacked four hits in four trips, knocking in seven runs, including two-run singles in both the first and second innings as the Warriors led Oliver Ames 9-0 after two frames. Casey McCourt went 3-for-5 with four RBI, including a three-run homer in the sixth inning, and Kelsey Gray added a 3-for-4 effort and two RBI. "We came out of our little slump nicely," said KP coach Jim Leonard. King Philip (16-2, 14-1) ventures out of the Hockomock Friday (7 p.m.) to play Coyle-Cassidy. North Attleboro 5, Stoughton 2 NORTH ATTLEBORO - Brenna Johnson returned to the Rocketeer lineup and belted a two-run double in the fifth inning, while Jacki O'Neill fired two strikeouts to extricate herself from a bases-loaded jam in preserving the victory. The Rocketeers (9-7) moved to within one victory of qualifying for the MIAA Tournament and the victory gave coach Bill Wallace his 100th career win during his seven years at North and two at Walpole. O'Neill aided her own cause with two hits. She blanked Stoughton through the first six frames before yielding two runs in the seventh. She notched her only strikeouts of the game for the first and third outs. Nicole Hardy drew a walk, stole second base and eventually scored on a passed ball for North's go-ahead run in the first. The Rocketeers then added pairs of runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, singles by O'Neill and Steph Burns set the stage for Johnson's two-bagger. In the sixth, Sarah Brown clubbed an RBI-double. North visits Foxboro Friday. Franklin 13, Foxboro 6 FRANKLIN - The Warriors put a scare into the Panthers before Franklin scored eight fourth-inning runs, six of them unearned. Kayla Malone hurled for Foxboro, but the Warriors totaled just six hits to support her and went scoreless through the final three frames. Foxboro took the lead with a pair of first-inning runs on a Chelsea Laracy ground ball and a Ali Valencia RBI-single. Joanna Magnusson and Valencia each had two hits for Foxboro (2-12), which next meets North Attleboro Friday.
