NORTON - A 26-year-old man charged in one of the area's largest marijuana seizures is now serving a jail term after pleading guilty in superior court to related charges.

Jesse Pitts is serving 16 months of a two-year term in jail after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, said Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter.

The balance of the term was suspended for five years with probation and the completion of 200 hours of community service.

An accomplice, Sebastian Pollack, 26, pleaded guilty to the same charge and was given three years' probation with 200 hours community service.

The charge was reduced from trafficking in marijuana when the two men agreed to plead guilty last week. Both were ordered to submit to random drug tests while on probation. Both were also ordered to obtain drug counseling, but Pollack must obtain his at an in-patient drug rehabilitation center.

The case against Pollack's wife, Bruna J. Santos, 26, was dropped because evidence against her was not as strong, Miliote said.

The trio was busted in November when police seized up to 90 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $300,000, along with $218,000 in cash from a home they were renting at the time at 278 Plain St.

Miliote said prosecutors are seeking a court order to have the cash forfeited.

The arrests came after a two-month probe led by Norton Detective Todd Bramwell and Trooper Michael Smith, a state police detective with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

They were assisted by officers in the Northern Bristol County Drug Task Force made up of Attleboro area police departments.
