Wheaton's Gingras named All-American

NORTON - Wheaton College baseball pitcher Adam Gingras of Woonsocket became the seventh Lyon to gain All-America status, the junior being named to the second American Baseball Coaches Association team.

Gingras turned in one of the top seasons by a Wheaton pitcher in school history, matching the program wins record by going 8-0 with a 1.70 earned run average and 47 strikeouts in 68.2 innings. He walked 11 batters while surrendering a .199 opposing average.

Ranked 17th among Division III pitchers in ERA and 23rd in hits allowed per nine innings (6.42), Gingras tied a school mark with two shutouts and yielded two runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts. In his final six outings, he fanned 29 and walked three in 41 innings.

Gingras led the NEWMAC in ERA, runs allowed and earned runs surrendered while tying for first in wins and innings pitched.

For his career, Gingras boasts a 10-1 record and 2.09 ERA with 84 strikeouts and 23 walks in 120.1 innings. In 27 appearances, including 16 starts. Opponents have hit .225 off of him.

Gingras was also named an All-America honorable mention by D3baseball.com., he was one of just three New England pitchers selected, the lone player from the NEWMAC.

Gingras was previously chosen to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) all-region first team and was voted the NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year.
