Wanted: Volunteers for Mansfield Relay For Life

MANSFIELD - With just days to go, organizers of the Relay For Life of Mansfield say they are still looking for volunteers to help staff the event.

Volunteers are needed for any time during the event, from mid-afternoon on Friday to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and can volunteer for as little as one hour.

"There are many opportunities for people able to give their time and energy to this community event to fight cancer," said Relay organizer Dottie Powers.

The Relay For Life is an 18-hour fundraiser, where teams of people walk around a track overnight to show solidarity against cancer.

Mansfield's Relay will be held on Alumni Field at Mansfield High School on East Street. Among other things, volunteers are needed to help with the luminaria ceremony, the survivors' dinner, registration, setup, picking up refreshments, manning the silent auction booth and distributing information. "Youth organizations also are encouraged to volunteer," Powers said.

To volunteer, contact Lisa Nash at 617-733-5238 or lisanashshea@yahoo.com or contact Randy Basker at 508-337-9434 or rbasker@comcast.net.
