Laidley, Janelli win Sensata 5K titles

ATTLEBORO - Over 200 runners braved the 96-degree heat on Sunday to complete the third annual Sensata Technologies 5K Road Race.
Zachary Laidley was the first to break the tape, the 35-year-old East Walpole resident crossing the finish line in 17:50. Kent Taylor of North Dighton was second (18:37), followed by Clay Howland of East Providence (18:57), Matt DiTrolio of Norton (19:17) and Dipak Panigrahy of Whitman (19:27).
Laura Janelli of Stoughton was the first female, finishing up in 21:56, that was also good enough for 17th overall. Jessica Carlone of Franklin was the second female (22:34), followed by Jennifer Goba of Norton (23:00), Sara Greener (23:12) and Ann Gagnon (23:29), both of Attleboro.
Jared Girroir of Attleboro won bragging rights at the company, being the first Sensata employee to cross the finish line in 19:43, good enough for seventh overall. Laura Nottie of Cumberland, R.I. was the top female from Sensata, posting a time of 25:13, good enough for 59th overall and the 10th overall female.
Other notable finishers include 63-year-old Steve Rosenberg of Waltham, who placed 18th overall (21:58); 14-year-old Kevin O'Brien of Attleboro, who placed sixth overall (19:31) and 14-year-old Sarah Andres of Foxboro, who placed 44th overall and was the sixth female (23:46); 64-year-old Tom Abbott of Natick was the oldest male competitor, finishing 47th overall (23:57); and Maureen Walker of Uxbridge was the oldest competitor at 65, finishing with a time of 57:55.

The race helps support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and cancer research. This year's race was dedicated to the memory of Alice Ajaujo, a long-time Sensata employee who passed away from cancer. Last year Sensata raised $10,000 for Dana-Farber.
