Bishop Feehan figure skating team places third at state meet
The team earned first-place honors in the overall Interpretive Freeskating and placed second in overall Freeskating. Bishop Feehan also finished in third place in overall Ice Dancing.
Senior Cailee Smith of Pawtucket, R.I. led the team as a high scorer, receiving a total of 16 points. She captured first place in Intermediate Interpretive Freeskating. Smith finished second in the American Waltz and placed second in the Paso Doble.
Junior D'Angela Alberty of Foxboro was the next highest scorer, placing first in Preliminary Freeskating and third in Preliminary Compulsory Moves and Preliminary Interpretive Freeskating.
"The girls did really well working together as a team," said Bishop Feehan skating coach Kate Grenier. "Figure skating tends to be a very individual and competitive sport, so I was really happy to see our skaters come together and work as a team even when some of them had to compete against each other."
The Bishop Feehan figure skating team consisted of Danielle Bessette of Cumberland, R.I., Alberty, Smith, Hannah Simmons of North Attleboro and Lana Rachin of Attleboro. |
