FOXBORO - The first-ever Reebok Sporting Goods store will open near Gillette Stadium in time for the New England Patriots' opening kickoff.

The Reebok store at Patriot Place will be "unlike any store Reebok has ever opened," Reebok International spokesman Dan Sarro said Tuesday.

Of Reebok's more than 150 retail shops in the United States, only the Foxboro store will carry Reebok sports equipment, Reebok-branded apparel and footwear, and NFL, NHL and MLB products. The equipment will be rotated seasonally.

The store also will feature Rbk Custom, enabling fans to create their own custom shoe featuring the Patriots or any other NFL, MLB or NHL team.

Featuring more than 5,000 square feet of sales space, Reebok will be in Patriot Place's Lifestyle Center. Canton-based Reebok will have the only sporting goods store, and the only athletic footwear store at Patriot Place, when it opens in time for the start of the NFL season.

"Obviously, we have a relationship with the NFL and the Patriots. And being a local company, I just think we thought it was a destination," Sarro said.

"Reebok is not just another retailer at Patriot Place. It is likely that more Reebok product will be sold at Patriot Place than any other brand."

The Patriot Place store will carry about 300 styles of in-line Reebok footwear, more than any other retail location in the country.

Reebok's licensed business and women's fitness products will be a key focus of the store.

The store will carry Reebok's fitness apparel, footwear and accessories for women.

Pro sports products will be another big draw.

High-end NFL, NHL and MLB lifestyle products unlikely to be found at another retail location in New England will be available, including the Retro Sport Collection and Roger Edwards, which is high-end retro lifestyle apparel.

The store may also be the lone location for apparel and accessories of the visiting team on game day. For example, Colts fans visiting Patriot Place before or after the Patriots-Colts play at Gillette could buy a Colts jersey or hat.

The store will carry limited Patriots apparel and accessories. However, Reebok will cross promote with the Patriots Pro Shop when appropriate; fans may buy Patriots footwear at Reebok.

"Reebok is intimately involved in the project, not just from a retail and product aspect, but also through our selection by the Kraft family to design the Pro Shop that will be a key part of The Hall at Patriot Place and one of the most popular destinations for fans/visitors," Sarro said.
