MPC boys win second state crown

The Blue Devils compiled a record of 3-2 in the Division I Tournament, losing to the Boston Warriors Elite team by eight points and the Mass Thundarcats by four points. Those two teams went on to the semifinals.

The following weekend, Mass Premier competed in the Division II Tournament at Amherst College. The Blue Devils went into the tourney determined to defend the Division II state title.

The team consisted of all freshmen, who played either junior varsity or varsity for their respective high school programs last season.

Mass Premier went 6-0 on the weekend. The semifinal game involved the Blue Devils playing BABC South, which the locals won by a score of 67-58.

The team then went on to play CMBC Pride in the finals.
The Blue Devils defended their title with a 72-57 win, making it back-to-back Division II state championships.

Mass Premier was coached by Chris Perron, the head boys' varsity coach at North Attleboro High School, and Chris Ruta of Norton.

The players on the team included Ryan Vayo, Nate Robitaille, Michael Lofton, Sean Otto, Chris Ruta, Justin Perron, Chris Mendes, Ryan Araujo, Tim Leblanc, Jeff Hill, Eric Tung, Kyle Gibson, Gunnar Bjornson, Matt Ford and Matt Zajac.
