Lacrosse all-star biographies




Ciara Pisano/Mansfield

The Hornets' leading scorer, Pisano produced 47 goals and was credited with 22 assists on the spectacular season which found Mansfield advancing to the semifinals of the Division 2-South Tournament, losing to eventual champion Norwell.

"She runs the attack," said Mansfield coach Dawn Kafel of Pisano, a three-year starter on the attacking front line. "She's very aggressive and has good timing, on when to shoot and when to pass." Pisano netted seven goals in a match against Canton.

The Hornet captain is also a member of the National and Spanish honor societies, the Peer Mediation group and will attend Providence College.

Samantha Doucette/Mansfield A four-year starter for the Hornets, she engineered the attack through her midfield position. Doucette netted 31 goals and collected 21 assists for the Hornets, who won 16 matches overall, advancing to the semifinals of the Division 2 Tournament.

A two-time, All-Hockomock League and All-Sun Chronicle selection, Doucette was also a key cog defensively at midfield, in the transition role. She also took most of the Hornet faceoffs and was extremely adept on ground balls, the recipient of the MHS "Coaches Award."

Also a member of the soccer team, the National and Spanish honor societies, she will attend Catholic University.

Kerry Kiley/Mansfield

A four-year starter at midfield for Mansfield, Kiley was a tremendously important focal point with a defensive role. She started the season playing in low defense, then moved up as a takeaway specialist. "Nobody could stop her," said MHS coach Dawn Kafel of her ability to gain possession of the ball.

Kiley earned the Hornets' MVP award on the season, finishing with 19 goals and 15 assists on the scoring sheet. The Hornets went 14-5-1 during the regular season, took a No. 6 seed for the Division 2 Tournament and then won two rounds, reaching the semifinals.

"She's fast and she's a very talented player," added Kafel of the Hornet captain. A two-time All Hockomock League pick, she plays with the Mass. Elite team and will attend Framingham State.

Meredith Maroney/Mansfield

In her second varsity season, her first as a starter, the Hornet senior had a breakout campaign, being an effective force in defending Mansfield High soil. A member and captain of the MHS basketball team, Maroney used those same skills to become a shutdown defender.

"In our zone defense or in a point defense, she was the anchor," praised MHS coach Dawn Kafel. Without Maroney, the Hornets wouldn't have won 16 matches, two in the MIAA Division 2 Tournament, reaching the semifinal round. The "Unsung Hero" award winner, Maroney's aggressiveness played a key role in taking interceptions and leading the ball out of the MHS zone. A member of the National Honor Society, she will attend Loyola College.

Lindsay Quinn/Mansfield

The most feared of all the Hornets, Quinn had a most prolific and productive season for the 16-6-1 Hornets, who advanced to the semifinals of the Division 2 Tournament. The high attacker on the MHS forward line, Quinn delivered a team-best 54 goals to go along with 21 assists.

Quinn tallied five goals in a match four times. "She's good at her shooting angles and in finding space," said MHS coach Dawn Kafel of her effectiveness within enemy defenses. "She's a very accurate shooter too."

A three-year starter, Quinn was an effective link between the midfield and attack. A two-time All Hockomock League pick, a member of the yearbook and student life staff, she will attend Marymount University.

Katie Noll/North Attleboro

The Rocketeers' center midfielder, the co-captain, the All-Hockomock League selection, the team MVP was also North's leading scorer with 21 goals and seven assists. "There are not many weaknesses in her game," said North coach Karen Folan.

A three-year member of the program, since its infancy, Noll scored the very first goal in North history. "She knows how to find openings because she is so agile and so quick," added Folan, citing her basketball skills. "She made herself into a great player because of her passion for the sport."

Noll lead the team in ground balls as well. She also plays lacrosse in the Bay State League and will be attending Merrimack College.

Lauren Sexton/North Attleboro

Another superb athlete, who relied on the aggressiveness learned on the soccer field and sense of space learned on the basketball floor, Sexton had a superb second varsity season. Sexton was North's No. 1 defender and earned the Hockomock League Sportsmanship award.

"She comes on strong, is powerful and aggressive and a great decision maker," said North coach Karen Folan of the senior. She was outstanding in making interceptions, making clears and in initiating the offensive attack. "She has a lot of drive and determination."

Also a member of the yearbook staff, SADD and the Mass. Premier AAU hoop team, she will be attending Virginia Tech.

Lindsay Felix/Foxboro

One of the foundations in the four-year existence of the program, Felix served as the Warriors' central midfielder and force to be reckoned with. "She has such great athletic skills, she'll blow through players," said Foxboro coach Lindsay Bruno of Felix' aggressiveness and in meeting challenges.

Felix netted 33 goals and was credited with 10 assists this season. She had a four-goal game against Medway and a three-goal game against Canton. She was tremendously effective as a left-handed shooter and took all of the Warrior faceoffs.

A two-time, All-Hockomock League pick, she also plays field hockey, is a member of the foreign language club and student council. Felix is planning on attending Merrimack.

Sarah Giardino/Foxboro

The high scoring forward in the Warriors' attack, Giardino prospered up front in leading Foxboro with 35 goals. She also added nine assists. "She's incredible with both hands," said Foxboro coach Lindsay Bruno of Giardino's ability to create space and defy defenses with her shooting skills.

Giardino netted six goals in a match against North Attleboro and twice had four-goal games. The sophomore is a two-year starter and was a key factor in Foxboro winning six matches this season.

"She has quite a future because of her skills," added Bruno, Giardino also being a member of the Blackjack Club team. During the fall, she plays soccer.

Brisa Shaw/Foxboro

The MVP on the season for Foxboro, the senior outside midfielder was a dynamic force both offensively and defensively. "She's a terrier, she has great stick skills," said Foxboro coach Lindsay Bruno of her tenacity, drive and determination.

Shaw netted 19 goals and was credited with eight assists as the Warriors won six matches this season. Shaw is very effective at winning balls on the back line, then relying on her quickness and deceptiveness in crossing midfield. "She has good crossover skills, she sets up the plays," added Bruno.

Shaw is planning on attending Roger Williams University.

Katie Florence/King Philip

A one-of-a-kind goalie, the four-year starter also plays for the Mass. Elite Club and will take her game to the next level, attending UMass-Amherst. During her career, the Warriors compiled a 56-6-1 record, winning four straight Hockomock League titles.

An All-Hockomock League and All-Mass. Coaches All-Star Team selection, she is a three-time All-Sun Chronicle pick. Florence was a force as KP produced a 17-2 regular season record, gaining a No. 4 seed for the MIAA Division 1 Tournament and reaching the quarterfinals.

"Katie's shoulders and back can take a rest for carrying us," said KP coach Mike Vitelli "Goalies like Katie come around sometimes never."

Sarah Biron/King Philip

A freshman sensation indeed was the Warriors' attacker, who netted 50 goals and was credited with 20 assists. Part of the high-powered, quick passing and effective shooting KP attack, Biron blended right in with the upperclassmen.

"Get used to the name," said KP coach Mike Vitelli in praise of the Warrior rookie, who has strong stick skills, good footwork and a clever sense of the field. "She is going to rewrite the record books at KP before she's done. She has tons of poise for a freshman and great all-around skills.

Biron is also a member of the KP field hockey team and the Mass. Elite lacrosse program. "Don't let her size fool you," added Vitelli, "she's got some nastiness in her."

Kerry Eaton/King Philip

A three-time All-Sun Chronicle selection, Eaton is also a three-time All-Hockomock League pick and an All-Mass. State Coaches Association pick, selected to play in national tournaments. The midfielder and attacker had a breakthrough season for the Warriors, netting 71 goals.

Not just her ball possession, foot skills and shot selection, Eaton also totaled 24 assists, being wooed on many a collegiate recruiting list. "I've never coached a kid with such a noise for the goal," said KP coach Mike Vitelli. "When she gets the ball down low, it's going in the net."

She is also a member of the field hockey and winter track teams, the National and Art honor societies and plays in the Mass. Elite lacrosse program.

Jacquelyn Lomp/King Philip

"She's the best pure passer that I've ever coached," beamed KP mentor Mike Vitelli of the Warrior senior midfielder, who delivered on 38 assists this season for the Hockomock League champions, who won 17 matches overall and reached the quarterfinals of the MIAA Division 1 Tournament.

Lomp also scored 17 goals, but her field vision and stick work were non-pareil. "We called Jackie the tennis ball machine because her feeds were just so on the money," added Vitelli. "She made a lot of people look good with her passes."

Also a member of the KP basketball team and student council, Lomp will be attending UConn.

Kendall Harty/King Philip

A two-time All-Sun Chronicle and All-Hockomock League selection, Harty was a pure attacker. In her four seasons with the varsity, KP won the Hockomock League title all four years, this season fashioning a 17-2 regular season slate. "She works hard at everything that she does," praised KP coach Mike Vitelli.

On the season, Harty was tremendously productive and prolific offensively with 41 goals and 41 assists. "From lacing up her cleats to commanding the team at practice, you have to love her intensity," added Vitelli.

A veteran lacrosse player with a wealth of youth and club level play regionally, Harty will be attending St. Lawrence University on a scholarship.

Mary Pasquantonio/King Philip

The third in line of the enormously talented Pasquantonio sisters to represent King Philip, the senior attacker was once again dynamic and dominant. She ranks among the top 10 female lacrosse players in the Commonwealth in career points with 189 goals and 167 assists.

Headed for Merrimack University on a lacrosse scholarship, Pasquantonio netted 54 goals and set up 47 others for her Hockomock League champion Warrior teammates. A three-time All-Hockomock League, All-Sun Chronicle and All-Mass. Coaches Association selection, "KP lacrosse would not be what it is today without her," said Vitelli.

A two-time All-America selection as well, a member of the field hockey team and Mass. Elite lacrosse program,. "she drove the team bus," added Vitelli of her direction on and off the field.
