Crossway Church of Plainville will host a free community carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the rear of the new Wood School on Route 106 in Plainville.

Pastor Bauer Evans said the carnival will include games and prizes for children (geared to specific age groups), rides for small children, train rides, family activities, face-painting, caricatures and live music. Sno-cones and drinks will be served free of charge. The event, Evans said, will be open to the public, no admission will be charged, and no donations will be solicited or accepted.

The church was previously located in Norton and held carnivals in past years at Capron Park in Attleboro. The church relocated to Plainville in 2006, and this year will mark its first carnival there. The church conducts Sunday morning services weekly at the Jackson School in Plainville. All Saints quilting circle meets today

ATTLEBORO - All Saints Episcopal Church, 121 North Main St., will hold its monthly quilting circle from 9 a.m. to noon today to continue the blanket mission to benefit the Family Resource Center. Quilters may work on an existing blanket project or bring their own projects to work on. Donations of material, thread, batting, four-inch crocheted "granny squares" of any color yarn, and containers to store materials in (laundry baskets, totes, etc.) are being accepted. ATTLEBORO - St. Joseph's Church will hold its annual festival on Friday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 9.

The family event will take place at the church grounds, 208 South Main St. Clam cakes and chowder will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, and a full menu will be offered on Saturday.

Activities will include a Jumparoo, dunk tank and live bands.

Vacation Bible School

FOXBORO - Bethany Congregational Church will be holding a Vacation Bible School Aug. 11-15 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children 3 and older, and those who will complete the fifth grade are welcome to attend.

The theme will be "Veggie Tales - the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything!" The school will run 9 a.m. to noon daily, and there also will be an evening version of the school. A family dinner will be served until 6:30 p.m. followed by two hours of Vacation Bible School. The cost is $30 per child or $50 per family. scrapbook sessions

NORTON - A scrapbooking fundraiser, "Divide and Conquer Your Photos," is taking place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 19 at Trinitarian Congregational Church at Pine and East Main streets. "Divide and Conquer" is a system to complete albums in seven three-hour sessions.

The program will replace the monthly TCC crop fundraiser for the summer. Spaces will be available for regular album-making for single-night sessions. The cost is $10 for the evening. MANSFIELD - The Clothes to Go clothing pantry will be open all summer from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays. Clothes to Go has reached out to more than 1,000 people since opening last December.
