The Rising Star Basketball Camp is accepting registration for its July 28-Aug. 1 week of instruction at the Mansfield Sportsplex. The day camp will run from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m and is open to boys 9-18 years of age. Instruction will be provided in various age groups. The camp is directed by Kevin O'Brien, who has coached at Harvard, Boston University, Stonehill and Brandeis. Among the local coaches on the staff will be Bishop Feehan High's Matt Freeman, Dover-Sherborn's Rick Grady and Norwood High's Rich Cormier. FOOTBALL

The North Attleboro High School football team and coaching staff will be conducting their annual Pop Warner Coaches Clinic, for all North Attleboro Junior Football coaches, on Saturday, July 26, in the Pickering Gymnasium at the high school from 4-7 p.m. Under the direction of Head Coach Kurt Kummer, the high school coaches will discuss basic fundamentals such as blocking and tackling, as well as various offensive and defensive schemes. The clinic will include player demonstrations and classroom sessions.

The North Attleboro High School football team and coaching staff will be conducting their annual Preseason Football Mini-Camp for all North Attleboro Pop Warner football players who are registered at the A, B, or C levels, and for all incoming freshmen football players. The camp will be held on Beaupre Field at the high school on Sunday, July 27, 4-7 p.m. In case of inclement weather, players should bring sneakers to wear in the gym. Instruction and drills will focus on the fundamentals of all offensive and defensive positions, offering participants an opportunity to have some fun and get a jump-start on the 2008 season. This is a non-contact camp so no equipment is necessary. There is no cost to attend and no pre-registration is required.

Registration is underway for the annual greater Attleboro Area CYO Golf Tournament July 28 at the Heather Hill Country Club in Plainville. Boys and girls may register in any of the three divisions: Senior, those born on or after July 1, 1988; Junior, those born on or after July 1, 1991; and Cadet, those born on or after July 1, 1994. HOCKEY

TENNIS

East Bay Community Tennis Association, a non-profit organization, announces that it will once again hold a tennis camp at Seekonk High School this summer. Seekonk High School Tennis Camp, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 a.m. Camp will be through July 31 and is for ages five and older. Players will be grouped by age and ability. Camp will consist of drills, instruction and games for younger children. There will be drills and matches for the older children. This is a fun camp where children enjoy learning how to play tennis, learn social skills and sportsmanship, meet new friends, and play with their friends. The camp also allows those youngsters who want to play on their high school team a chance to play some matches with coaching. The Wrentham Parks and Recreation Dept. will sponsor a series of "open" track and field meets for men and women of all ages at the King Philip Regional High School track complex; meets held each Tuesday through Aug. 5; entry fee $2 per event or $5 for unlimited participation; events will be the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meter runs, a mile run, long and high jumps, shot put, discus, hurdles, javelin and exhibition relays; there will be special 20 and 50 meter runs for toddlers.
