Coming off a major success last year, the Blackstone River Theatre and the town of Cumberland will present the 2nd annual Blackstone River Theatre Celtic Festival at Diamond Hill Park, Rte. 114, Cumberland, on Saturday, July 19. The Festival will run from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., with a July 20 rain date.

Five stages will present various forms of Celtic music, dance and culture.

Featured entertainers include Aoife Clancy, Robbie O'Connell, Paddy Keenan, Bua, Pendragon, The Hanneke Cassel Trio, The Atwater-Donnelly Trio, Trouz Bras, The Emerald Rae Trio, and The Publicans.

A dance stage will feature two performances each by the Solas An Lae Irish step dance company from New York, and the award-winning Harney Academy Dancers from Walpole. There will also be Irish step dance demonstrations and participatory Irish set dancing featuring The Broad Street Ceili Band.

The festival will also have a dedicated children's entertainment stage featuring Keith Munslow, Rosalita's Puppets, Maria Sangiolo, The Toe Jam Puppet Band and others.
BRT executive director and festival producer Russell Gussetti said Diamond Hill State Park provides an ideal setting for the family-friendly festival.

"It really is a beautiful but under-used location to present family-oriented events such as the Celtic Festival," he said. "The site allows Blackstone River Theatre to expand the scope of our programming beyond our Broad Street location and reach a much larger audience. We were thrilled to have 2,000 people attend in our first year and hope to see even more this year."

Blackstone River Theatre is seeking volunteers to work at the Celtic Festival as well as additional craft vendors.

A post-festival music session will cap the day's activities at the Blackstone River Theatre, 549 Broad St.

Festival admission will be $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children. Children 5 and under get in free. For tickets or more information, visit www.riverfolk.org/brtcf or call Blackstone River Theatre at 401-725-9272.
