Two hurt in Plainville fire
Top Headlines A tenant of the unit where the fire started and a neighbor used fire extinguishers to put out the blaze but were taken by Plainville ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, Fire Lt. David Motta said. They were believed to have suffered from minor smoke inhalation. The grease fire, reported at about 6:45 p.m., extended up a wall but was out by the time firefighters arrived. There was heavy smoke, which firefighters ventilated, the lieutenant said. "They were cooking on a stove and grease ignited," Motta said. About 25 tenants from the 12 units in the building were evacuated. "The smoke detectors were set off and most people evacuated" when they heard them, Motta said. The two people who lived in the unit where the fire was and a dog were displaced for the night.
