Ticketmaster sets up shop at NA mall

NORTH ATTLEBORO - New lines - for concert tickets - will be forming at Emerald Square mall.

A Ticketmaster retail outlet opened at the Route 1 shopping center Monday through a partnership between the ticket agency and mall owner Simon Property Group.

Ticketmaster will operate from the mall's Guest Services booth, located on the first floor near JCPenney, from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Emerald Square is among 50 Simon Malls across the country offering tickets through Ticketmaster.

The new partnership with Simon Property Group represents Ticketmaster's biggest mall-based program in the country. Lottery for big events

A lottery system will be used for tickets for the most popular events, of the magnitude of a Jimmy Buffett, said Holly Carpenter, director of mall marketing for Emerald Square.

Fans will each get a lottery ticket as they get in line to buy concert tickets, Carpenter said.

One lottery ticket chosen shortly before tickets go on sale will determine the order in which fans will have the chance to buy tickets, she said.

Ticketmaster has used the lottery system elsewhere, Carpenter said.

Fans also may buy tickets online and pick them up at Emerald Square, she said.

The new program will offer advance ticket sales for select events, family packages for special events, merchandise and special discounts, and retailer tie-ins.

" This isn't news. There has always been a Ticketmaster at the JC Penney's.

There should be a story about how you can't buy Patriots tickets there. I was waiting in line at 10am on the specified date, per the radio ad and they told me they were unavailable there when they opened. What a fraud. By the way, what a convienence & shipping fees now? Like $18 per ticket? "

" In keeping with their image, Ticketmaster employees will wear Ticektmaster tags, golf shirts in the company colors and coordinating nylon stockings over their heads to hide their identities.

Like going to a state college where fees can exceed tuition, all of the special fees can far exceed the cost of the event itself.

Convenience fees my butt. "
