Norton man allegedly sought sex with teen

NORTON - Authorities say a former town dispatcher was arrested in Connecticut, where he went for a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl he talked to via computer, but in reality was an undercover police officer.

Michael X. Wynn, 37, of 15 Dean St., was held in New Haven Community Correctional Center Wednesday on $100,000 bond following his arraignment Monday in Waterbury Superior Court.

Wynn allegedly communicated with the undercover police officer numerous times and in sexually graphic language via computer from April to June, said Lt. Robert Harrison, a police spokesman in Naugatuk, Conn., where Wynn was arrested last Saturday.

"I will not get into the exact conversations. But he was very graphic and specific on what he wanted to do. There was no doubt in anybody's mind about what his intentions were," Harrison said Wednesday.

Wynn, who is also a former Norton constable, was arrested about 1:45 p.m. at a Naugatuk strip mall, where he agreed to meet who he thought was going to be the 14-year-old girl.
During the computer "instant message" conversations, Wynn allegedly told the undercover officer what he would be driving and wearing, and was arrested by police who had the area under surveillance, Harrison said.

Norton police seized Wynn's computer from his home as part of the investigation, Harrison said.

He was a dispatcher at the town's communications center handling police and fire emergency calls for 15 years before he resigned in January.

He served a brief stint from October to November last year as the town's assistant treasurer and collector before returning to his dispacther job.

Wynn faces three felonies: attempting to commit risk of injury to a child, attempting to commit second-degree sexual assault and enticing a minor by computer, said John A. Connelly, the Connecticut state attorney for the Waterbury Judicial District.

Connelly said pleas are not entered at arraignment and Wynn is due back in court next Monday. He said such cases usually take about a year to come to trial.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for attempting to commit risk of injury to a child, nine months to 10 years for the attempted sexual assault charge and five years for enticing a minor by computer.

No attorney for Wynn was listed on records in the case, authorities said.

Wynn lives with his grandmother, Wilma Wynn, who said Wednesday afternoon that she knew nothing of the allegations. She said has not seen or heard from her grandson since Saturday.

" This is so disturbing. I graduated NHS in 2006, and during my 4 years there hes was a sub a few times. Nice to know that this person who likes little girls was in a school of them, what a comferting thought. "
