NORTON - Three people escaped serious injury when a car and a tractor-trailer truck collided in the area of 207 Mansfield Ave. (Route 140) Thursday morning.

The driver of the car was briefly trapped and had to be freed from the vehicle by firefighters using a hydraulic power-cutting tool in the 11:15 a.m. crash, Fire Chief Richard Gomes said.

The driver of the car was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

A passenger in the car and the truck driver were treated at the scene and declined to be taken to the hospital.

The road had to be shut down for about an hour.
Firefighters also cleaned vehicle fluids which leaked onto the street.
