Providence - Kara Elin Svendsen and Timothy Sean Tehan were married during a Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Providence on July 28, 2007. The intimate ceremony, officiated by the Rev. Raymond Malm, was witnessed by the couple's parents, siblings, grandmother and aunt.

A reception overlooking Waterfire in Providence was held at Waterplace Restaurant following the ceremony. A celebration with a full reception will take place when the groom returns from military service in 2009.

The bride is the daughter of Alan and Patricia Svendsen of Attleboro. The groom is the son of Terence Tehan of Barrington, R.I., and the late Mary Tehan.

The bride graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro in 1996, and from Providence College in 2000. She is currently working toward a master's in business administration at the University of Rhode Island.

She is employed as a property manager for Fairfield Properties in Providence. The groom graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence in 1996 and from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2000. He earned a master's in business administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., in 2007.

He was recalled to military service in September 2007 and is currently serving as a captain in the U.S. Army at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

The couple plans to live in Providence.
