Going south? Mystic Seaport's first Wine & Food Festival is today through Sunday, from noon to 7. There will be cooking demonstrations, culinary tastings and food and wine seminars on the Village Green. A farmers' market will also be set up. Scheduled events occur between 1and 6 through Saturday, and between 1 and 5 on Sunday.

Eight of Connecticut's wineries will offer samples and glasses of wines for purchase, a menu including seafood, grilled fare and a variety of desserts prepared from products of local and regional farms will be available and there will be live music.

Adult admission tickets are 19 bucks, seniors 17 and children 17 and under 14. Admission is half price if you get there after 5. (mysticseaport.org and 888.973.2767)

Going north? And you can't wait for Boston Restaurant Week?

Well, about a dozen restaurants are hosting the first annual Greater Merrimack Valley Restaurant Week through Saturday, Aug. 9. You'll find three-course prix fixe menus for lunch at 20 bucks and for dinner at 30 bucks. Restaurants in Lowell, Andover, Haverhill, Concord, Bedford, Burlington, Lexington, Newburyport and Dracut are participating. In honor of the Feast of the Throne, a centuries old Moroccan festiva, they are having a celebration at Tangierino on Main Street in Charlestown. In Morocco, the holiday is celebrated with the opening of the city palaces to the public and citizens are welcomed with elaborate receptions. At Tangierino they celebrate with a three-course prix fixe menu of harira, wild salmon tagine, seven-vegetable couscous, sultan's kadra and an assortment of exotic sorbets. The dinner menu, which is served 5:30 to 10:30 and combines traditional and contemporary Moroccan cuisine, is 69 bucks, 87 bucks with a Les Celliers de Meknes wine pairing.(617.242.6009)

The all-you-can lunch buffet at Spumoni's on Newport Avenue in Pawtucket includes chicken Milanese, baked lasagna, baked scrod and meatballs and sausage. It's 11:30 to 1:30 Monday through Thursday and costs 8 bucks. (spumonisrestaurant.com and 401.726.4449)

The sixth annual Tanglewood Wine & Food Classic is Thursday, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 10, in Lenox. It's four days of seminars and tastings, winery dinners and winemaker receptions. The main event is the Saturday afternoon Grand Tasting with wines from more than 100 vintners as well as cooking demos (with samples) from Boston-based-restaurants. Tickets for the Grand Tasting cost 105 bucks. There will also be evening performances by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. (bso.org and 888.266.1200)

On Tuesdays they offer Bubbles & Oysters at OM Restaurant

Lounge on Harvard Square in Boston. Between 5 and 7 in the lounge or patio they pair a half dozen Duxbury oysters with Moet et Chandon for 25 bucks. (617.576.2800)

You can get blade meat and steamers at The Chieftain on Route 1 in Plainville, but the menu also has some Irish dishes - like camogie sticks, Cahill's grill, Callan and Gaelic steaks, and Cappoquinn chicken, to name a few. ()

The Big E this year is Friday, Sept. 12, through Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds in West Springfield. (TheBigE.com and 413.205.5041) Every Thursday between 5 and 7 they have Lager Education Night at the Buzzards Bay brewery on Horseneck Road in Westport. They tap kegs for tasting and you can bring your own grillables to fix on their fires. Pint glasses are 5 bucks, and that includes two refills. (buzzardsbrew.com)

The New England Oyster Festival will be held the weekend of Sept. 27-28, on the waterfront in Newport.

The seafood trio platter of swordfish, salmon and haddock is 12 bucks and the steak fajita salad is 10 bucks with the coupons in The Sun Chronicle Monday for Jenerations on East Street in Downtown North Attleboro. (508.809.6585)

Two Forty Two on Atwells Ave., Providence is continuing Restaurant Week prices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday for both brunch and dinner. A three-course dinner is 30 bucks and it's 13 bucks for a three-course brunch. Oh, and on Mondays they have two meals for 42 bucks, with wine. (401.453.0242)

CAV on Imperial Place (401.751.9164) and Mediterraneo on Atwells Avenue (401.331.7760), both in Providence., have also extended their Restaurant Week prices through the end of the month. And, oh, while The Notester's at it, Boston Restaurant Week returns Sunday, Aug. 10, through Friday, Aug. 15, and again Sunday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 22, with neary 200 restaurants participating.

On Mondays you get a free bowl of mussels with a mojito, margarita or martini cocktail, on Tuesdays it's two-for-one appetizers, on Wednesdays it's free sushi is given with a minimum order of 5 bucks, and on Thursdays and Fridats there's live music.
