Commission slates hearing for new Norton Commerce Center tenant

NORTON - The owners of Norton Commerce Center are so close to getting another tenant they have scheduled a conservation commission public hearing next Monday.

Condyne LLC is negotiating a lease for a South Washington Street site near the business park entrance on the Norton-Taunton line, Condyne Business Development official Michael McCarthy said.

McCarthy declined to identify the potential tenant.

However, he said a ground-breaking is being eyed between November and February at the commerce center, located off Interstate 495 near the Myles Standish Industrial Park in Taunton.

The conservation commission will hold a public hearing on plans to verify the wetlands resource areas at 7:15 p.m. Monday in the second-floor meeting room at town hall.

Condyne owns and operates the 123-acre business park in a joint venture with Dead River Properties.

The center currently has three mixed-use buildings totaling 172,000 square feet.

Poland Springs, Omnipoint Holdings, Brunswick Laboratories and Morton Builders are the current tenants.

The campus is approved for 385,000 square feet of new office, industrial and mixed-use space.

"We're still confident that, the next two or three years, we could have a majority of the park built up," McCarthy said.
