Car misses pool in Plainville

PLAINVILLE - A vehicle nearly ended up in the swimming pool at Park Terrace Swim Club off Berry Street early Friday afternoon.

The vehicle drove down a ten-foot embankment before striking a concrete wall.

"It teetered on the concrete wall," Fire Lt. Robert Skinner said, adding if the vehicle had fallen over, it would have been a different story. "She was very lucky. Another couple of feet, she would have gone down a larger embankment near the swimming pool."

The driver wasn't injured.

"It was pretty impressive the way it got down there. It was actually strange to see," Skinner said, adding of the driver, "She misjudged the curbing or something." The incident was reported about 1 p.m. The vehicle had to be removed by a tow truck.
