Top Headlines Nicole Caron's vision of the future is bright - even when her multiple sclerosis flare-ups cause her eyesight to blur. A sunny disposition and positive outlook have helped the 18-year-old North Attleboro High School senior deal with the challenges of her disease, but also succeed in honors-level classes like advanced placement biology. Nicole, the daughter of Judy and Mike Caron, first experienced symptoms of multiple sclerosis at age 15. She was at soccer camp when three fingers went numb, but she assumed it was just a sports-related injury. Other attacks followed, including days of migraines and blurred vision, before she was finally diagnosed. Daily injections of copaxone have helped manage her disease, which has also helped inspire her career path. Nicole will attend the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in the fall with the goal of becoming a nurse. Nicole said that while she has bad days occasionally, her friends, family and teachers have created a support network that helps when she isn't feeling well. "My friends have been great, they've been so supportive. If I'm not feeling well, they will stay in with me. The teachers and my guidance counselor have also been amazing. They have been really caring and understanding," she said.
