Reach for the beach at RI's Misquamicut

It's safe. It's fun. It's fabulous. This year experience the thrills of summer and fun for everyone at Misquamicut Beach in Westerly, R.I.

Misquamicut is fronted on the south by one of the cleanest and most beautiful stretches of ocean surf anywhere. On the north side of the property is Winnapaug Pond, a rich source of Rhode Island quahogs (clams) and sweet, tender bay scallops.

This Rhode Island hot spot recently welcomed the Herschell-Spillman Carousel which was made back in 1915 for the Rocky Point Amusement Park. Rocky Point is now closed and the carousel was recently purchased at auction.

Besides the carousel, there are kiddie rides, futuristic bumper cars, a 9-hole mini-golf course, and a game room with over 75 machines, including the latest video games and a redemption facility.

Surfing, wakeboarding, kayaking, jet skiing, and swimming are just some of many things you can do on this beautiful stretch of ocean surf. Misquamicut's highest elevation is waterslides, truly making this a fun-filled vacation spot for families and friends.

For adults 21 and older, get the feeling you're on the deck of a ship as you gaze out at the sea, sipping your favorite beverage the Windjammer Lounge & Oasis Patio Bar. The cool ocean breeze, bright sun and relaxed atmosphere all add up to some friendly conversation and a great view of the Atlantic Ocean, Block Island and the tip of Long Island.

There is no beach in southern New England with attractions like Misquamicut. So who knew that in the little old state of Rhode Island there would be so much to do at one great beach?
