Hebrew School open house set Aug. 24 in city
Top Headlines The Agudas Achim Hebrew School offers classes for students from pre-kindergarten through grade 9. Education Director Kim Bodemer and Rabbi Elyse Wechterman will be available to discuss their nationally recognized "Shabbat B'Yachad programs, which are designed to join the school and larger synagogue community. Those programs include Saturday morning workshops featuring arts and music, yoga, hiking, intergenerational learning and prayer; Friday evening family services, catered dinners, and guest speakers; and bi-monthly dinner exchanges held in members' homes, as well as holiday workshops. The parent-tot group, Ruach 'n' Roll, will be back this fall for 2- to 3-year-olds, and will meet monthly starting in September. Ruach 'n'Roll focuses on Jewish holidays through movement, art, stories, games, music and more. The program also offers the opportunity to connect with other young families. Synagogue membership is not required to participate in this program or the preschool program. A new offering this year is the Kadimah program for post B'nai Mitzvah students who will be in grades 8 and 9 this fall. This group will meet once a month for a service learning project, dinner and activity. The open house will provide the opportunity to review the curriculum outline, individualized learning plans for all students and the school schedule. For more information, contact the synagogue at 508-222-2243 or go to agudasma.org.
