NORTH ATTLEBORO - On his first night on the job, Patrolman Justin Gould helped nab an accused drunken driver with a history of prior arrests.

Gould, the son of Police Chief Michael Gould Sr., was riding with Capt. Daniel Coyle just after midnight Sunday, when they spotted a car on Route 1 with no headlights, according to police.

The driver, Michael M. Moran, 42, of Walpole, now faces a fifth-offense drunken driving charge and was ordered held Monday in jail without bail pending a dangerousness hearing Wednesday in Attleboro District Court.

He was also charged with driving to endanger, driving with no headlight and possession of marijuana. Police say they noticed a small bag of marijuana coming out of his sock during a field sobriety test. Assisting in the arrest were officers Kevin Lacasse and Sgt. Fred DeMarco.

If a judge finds Moran is a danger, he could be held in jail without bail for up to 90 days.
