The Cann Girls Trust, a managed trust headed by a group of local community leaders, will begin soliciting contributions from local businesses and individuals next month to support the sisters and their family now and in the future.

The trust is managed by a volunteer board of trustees through Bristol County Savings Bank of Taunton and is intended to provide the girls with supplemental health care, rehabilitation, counseling and education.

Contributions can also be made online via PayPal at the trust's Web site, www.canntrust.org. or mailed directly to Cann Girls Trust, care of Bristol County Savings Bank, 851 County St., Taunton, MA 02780.

Donations to the fund are not tax deductible, said Joe Rando, a member of the board, because the trust will benefit specific recipients, rather than a nonprofit group.

Besides Rando, the Cann Girls Trust board of trustees includes Mike Kirby, editor of The Sun Chronicle; Kim Thomas, executive director of New Hope; Bill Kelly of Bristol County Savings Bank; Tony Rando of Bristol Place Limited Partnership; Chris Rapphold of Personal Best Karate centers; and Kelly Fox, president of Attleboro Area Council for Children.
