BASEBALL

RBI Baseball Academy in Foxboro is preparing for its 11th year running Fall Baseball Leagues. Programs are available to players ages 5-18 including a High School Wood Bat League for grades 9-12. RBI will also be offering the Next Level Baseball Strength & Conditioning, which is a baseball-specific program run in coordination with Velocity Sports Performance designed to increase the player's strength, agility, and speed. RBI's 2008 Fall Baseball programs start on Saturday, Sept. 6 and includes: Head Start Program (Ages 5-6); Little League Minor Division (Ages 7-9); Little League Major Division (Ages 10-12); Transition Program (Babe Ruth Age 13); Babe Ruth League (Babe Ruth Ages 14 High School Wood Bat League (Grades 9-12); and Next Level Strength & Conditioning Program (Grades 7-12). Team registrations also available for LL Major Division, Babe Ruth, and High School Wood Bat League. RBI Baseball Academy is raffling off two Free Red Sox tickets to the Sept. 22 game vs. the Cleveland Indians. Rhode Island Tides Baseball Club: Tryouts in September for players ages 10-15; players can register either by going to our Web site at www.rhodeislandtides.com or emailing rhodeislandtides@yahoo.com; select teams are coached by high school and college coaches.

The South Attleboro American Legion Post 312 baseball team is in need of a head coach for the 2009 season. Individuals interested in the position are asked to contact Gary Middleton at 508-226-1365. The Autumn Baseball League (ABL) now in the registration period for 2008; last year's teams as well as new teams are required to complete the registration forms and pay fee of $285 prior to the deadline of Aug. 25; visit autumnbaseballleague.com for registration information and form requirements or call commissioner Herman Bomback at 508-496-7371 or e-mail hrbomback@hotmail.com; season scheduled to start on Saturday, Sept. 6 with doubleheaders each Saturday as well as a doubleheader on Columbus Day; regular season is a maximum nine weeks, ending with the ABL World Series; applications submitted after the registration deadline date will be charged a $100 late fee; the League is broken down into four divisions: U10s (Juniors), U12s (Seniors), U15s (Minor Division), U17s (Major Divison); age requirements are as follows: U10s-If a player becomes 11 on or after April 1 then player is eligible for U10s; U12s-If a player becomes 13 on or after April 1 then player is eligible for U12s; U15s-If player becomes 16 on or after Jan. 1, the player must move up to the Major Division U17s; U17s-If player becomes 18 this year then the player is too old to play in the Autumn Baseball League.

BASKETBALL

Boston Warriors AAU Boys Basketball Club tryouts will take place Aug. 31 and Sept 7 at Waltham High School. King Philip preseason clincs: clinics will start Sunday, Sept. 21 and continue for seven Sundays for boys and girls ages K-12; groups are broken down by grade and gender. On Sunday evenings starting Sept. 21, Grades K-2 will play from 4-5 p.m.; Grades 3-5, 4-5:30 p.m.; Grades 6-8, 5-6:30 p.m.; High School, 5:30-7:30 p.m., all at King Philip High School. YMCA/Missy Traversi Youth Basketball Boot Camp: A program will give youngsters a chance to work on their skills and get ready for their upcoming basketball season; the program will be run on Saturday afternoons, Sept. 20-Nov. 1, and will be led by Missy Traversi and other premier area coaches and players. The program will be co-ed and divided into age groups with boys and girls ages 5 & 6 meeting from 12-1 p.m.; boys and girls ages 7 & 8 meeting from 1-2 p.m.; boys and girls ages 9 &10 meeting from 2-3 p.m.; and boys and girls ages 11 & 12 meeting from 3-4 p.m. for more information or to register, call 508-222-7422.

HOCKEY

Developmental Hockey Program: The Pirelli Veterans Memorial Skating Rink in Franklin is conducting registration for the developmental program on Saturday mornings for beginners of all ages; program divided into separate levels based on age, experience and ability: learn-to-skate (ages 10-and-under), hockey skills and drills (ages 10-and-under), late starters (ages 11-to-15); all classes will be held weekly at 10-10:50 a.m.; each level will meet in 13-week sessions running from Nov. 1 through Jan. 24; cost $195 per session and includes a free hockey jersey; registration deadline Oct. 20; call 1-866-HOCKEY-3 or register on-line at www.baystatehockey.com

The Attleboro/Norton YMCA is offering Men's Recreational Softball League 30-plus. Teams play 7-8 regular season games plus playoffs. King Philip will be inducting its second class into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 25; 21 athletes, two coaches and two honorary members will be honored at the induction ceremony at Luciano's on Lake Pearl; the athletes are James Amidon (class of 1980), Patricia Barry-Querusio ('81), Beverly Begor Flynn ('65), Lexia Calzaretta Gonzalez ('88), Jill M. Canelli ('93), Joseph Cataldo ('81), Patricia Cole ('80), Patty Duffy Davenport ('75), Robert Lavertu ('96), Janell Leavitt Collins ('97), Jeff Mahoney ('91), Greg Meyer ('77), Eric Nolan ('95), Kara O'Neill Faford ('98), Donna J. Peck ('72), Bill Rice ('65), Rachel Rice Nixon ('95), Jason Romsey ('88), Susan Shurmur Plumb ('81), Peter Smith ('96) and Brian Thomas ('92); coaches to be inducted will be Janna M.
