Plainville seniors holding events

PLAINVILLE - The Plainville Senior Center, 9 School St., announced the following upcoming events. Call 508-699-7384 to sign up or for more information.

Church kicks off season of suppers
PLAINVILLE - A meal of pasta and meatballs will kick off the season of church suppers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Plainville United Methodist Church, 16 East Bacon St. Also included will be salad, warm bread, coffee or juice and dessert.

The cost is held to last year's price of $8 for adults, $3.50 for children. Ask about the special full family price. For tickets or reservations, call 508-695-5141 or 508-699-8646.

Suppers for the remainder of the season are held on the second Saturday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

The current schedule of main dishes, subject to change, is as follows: Oct. 11, stuffed chicken breast; Nov. 8, baked ham and bean; Dec. 13, oven roasted chicken; Jan 10, chicken pot pie (calendar supper); Feb. 14, lasagna; March 14, meatloaf; April 11, TBA; May 9, oven roasted chicken and salads.

Brown to hold summer office hours

State Sen. Scott Brown will be holding office hours throughout his district. No appointment is necessary.

Office hours will be held on the first and third Thursday of the month at the following time and location:

Plainville: 11 a.m.-11:45 a.m, Council on Aging (9 School St.).

Find out about mosquito spraying

Mosquito spraying in Norfolk County, including Foxboro, Plainville, Wrentham, and Norfolk, is beginning and will continue through September.

The Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project program is conducted weekdays during the early morning hours of 2 to 6 a.m., weather permitting. The program is the same as in past years.

Ground spraying was conducted in April in large wetlands to control mosquito larvae.

To find out where spraying is being done, visit www.massnrc.org/ncmcp, or contact your local health board. Map and/or street listings will be posted on or about 3:30 p.m. the day before the scheduled application day.

For further information, contact your local health board or Mosquito Project Director John Smith at 1-781-762-3681, at which there will be a recorded message about spraying daily after 3:30 p.m.



Help field fundraising committee


PLAINVILLE - The Plainville Park Department is looking for residents that would be interested in fund raising for Phase 2 of "Field of Dreams" Phase 1 which includes two Babe Ruth size fields and a 180 X 300 yd soccer field will be seeded this spring. We hope to be able to play on these fields by the spring of 09. A smaller practice soccer field still needs to be graded, irrigated and seeded.

Phase 2 will include two little league size fields, a 210 X 330 yd soccer field, a building that will house a snack bar, rest rooms and a maintenance building.
