FOXBORO - Former New England Revolution forward Pat Noonan re-signed with Major League Soccer, but his rights were then traded by the Revolution to the Columbus Crew in exchange for allocation money and the Crew's natural first-round selection in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.

The teams also agreed to switch positions in the current 2008 allocation standings and agreed to considerations regarding the 2009 allocation rankings. New England moves into the third spot and Columbus to 10th place in the current allocation rankings with this trade.

The 28-year-old Noonan played the 2008 season in Norway with Aalesund of the Norweigian Premier League after joining the team on a free transfer from MLS in January. He played five seasons for the Revs after being drafted in the first round (ninth overall) by the team in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft. He appeared in 119 games in New England, starting 110, and scoring 37 goals. He left the club ranked third in both career goals and career assists.

The Revolution (10-4-3, 33 poionts), currently the top team in MLS and newly-crowned SuperLiga 2008 champion, return to MLS regular-season action on Saturday evening at Gillette Stadium against the Chicago Fire.
