MANSFIELD - A police officer working a road detail stopped a vehicle that allegedly fled from a police officer during a traffic stop earlier this week.
Reserve Officer Paul Studenski stopped the car in traffic while on a road detail on South Main Street around noon on Tuesday, police said.
The driver, Gertrude Walker, 60, of 28 Fulton St. in Mansfield, pleaded innocent Thursday in Attleboro District Court to making an improper turn and failing to stop for police, according to court records.
Walker is accused of driving away from Patrolman Matthew Souza on Spring Street as he asked her for her license and registration.
Souza grabbed the steering wheel as she drove away, then let go, police said.
Souza was not injured.
Walker is free without bail and is due back in court Sept. 25 with a lawyer.
