ATTLEBORO - An alleged drug dealer pleaded guilty in Attleboro District Court Wednesday to giving cocaine to a teenager to sell at the alternative high school on County Street last year.
Joshua Medeiros, 26, of 37 Holman St., in Attleboro, was ordered to serve a one-year jail term after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
The charges were the result of the arrest of Patrick James-Marshall, 18, of 223 Mendon Road, South Attleboro, who was found with a knapsack at the Network Program at the former Brennan Middle School building, which contained 14 grams of cocaine and a large amount of cash.
Police obtained a warrant for his arrest and a search warrant for his home before they stopped a car in which he was a passenger. He gave three grams of cocaine to the driver, who stuffed it in her bra before she stopped the car, according to prosecutors.
Medeiros is currently serving a 2 1/2-year jail term on a cocaine-peddling case related to that case but is appealing his conviction. The driver was never charged.
The one-year jail sentence he received Wednesday will run concurrent with the 2 1/2-year jail term. He also forfeited $202 in cash.
James-Marshall, earlier this year admitted to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to the seven months he spent in jail awaiting trial.
