NORTH ATTLEBORO - High school seniors who pitch in to make a difference in the community will be eligible to earn money for college as part of a new scholarship program started by Selectman Mark Williamson.
Williamson announced last week that he is working to establish the Make Your Mark Scholarship, which will be available to high school seniors who are residents of North Attleboro.
To start off the scholarship, Williamson said he will donate the $1,000 annual stipend he receives for serving on the board of selectmen.
Applicants for the scholarship will be asked to submit a community project proposal to the scholarship committee for its consideration. If the high school senior is selected for a scholarship, he or she will have a year to complete the project outlined and supply the scholarship committee with information on the results.
Williamson said he is starting the scholarship program to follow through on one of the pledges he made while campaigning for the board of selectmen.
Further details about the scholarship will be announced shortly, Williamson said.
