Pair facing fraud counts

Foxboro couple allegedly tried to cheat auto insurance firm
FOXBORO - A Foxboro couple and a Hanover man are accused of motor vehicle insurance fraud for allegedly staging a truck theft.

The incident happened in March 2007.

Authorities allege that Foxboro residents Ronn Bravetti, 38, and his girlfriend, Mary Muraca-Parker, 42, reported to the Sharon police that Bravetti's truck was stolen from a parking lot in Sharon. The next day, Bravetti allegedly initiated an insurance claim with MetLife.

However, MetLife officials allege that Bravetti put the truck up for sale on consignment at a West Bridgewater car dealership so that it would not be listed as an asset and to cease further payments.

Cross, a salesman at the dealership, allegedly tried to sell the truck on behalf of Bravetti, but failed, and suggested Bravetti file a stolen vehicle claim with his insurer. The following month, Bravetti's truck was recovered at the home of a salesman at the dealership.

Bravetti, 38, was charged with motor vehicle insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit motor vehicle fraud, attempted larceny, and filing a false stolen motor vehicle report.

Muraca-Parker and Cross, 47, of Hanover, were each charged with motor vehicle insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit motor vehicle fraud and attempted larceny.

Bravetti, Muraca-Parker and Cross pleaded not guilty when arraigned Thursday in Stoughton District Court

Judge J. Francis Crimmins released them on personal recognizance and set their next court date for Nov. 7.

The case is being prosecuted by state Assistant Attorney General Joshua Pakstis of Attorney General Martha Coakley's Insurance and Unemployment Fraud Division with assistance from the Insurance Fraud Bureau of Massachusetts.
