BOYS' SOCCER: Shamrocks strike in final minute

STOUGHTON - After totaling outplaying the Black Knights of Stoughton, but having nothing to show for 40 minutes of attacking, the Bishop Feehan High boys' soccer team had to wait until the final minute of play to win the non-league match 2-1 Wednesday.

Pat Boyland banged in a rebound of a Dan Galvin drive with 15 seconds remaining.

"It would have been a bad tie," said Feehan coach Mike Pariseau as the Shamrocks controlled the flow to the extent that they had a 15-1 advantage in shots and surrendered just two corner kicks to Stoughton.

The Black Knights took a one-goal lead by halftime, but Devan Devoy netted the tying goal for Feehan at 30:09 of the second half, striking in a rebound of a Kyle Morrissey shot.

The Shamrocks visit Bishop Stang Tuesday. Greater New Bedford 4,

Dighton-Rehoboth 1

NEW BEDFORD - The Falcons were, seemingly, on solid footing when they scored the first goal of the South Coast Conference match, but in an early season clash of title contenders, the Bears not only responded by scoring four straight goals, but shutting out D-R through the final 72 minutes of play.

Kevin Custodio netted two goals for Greater New Bedford, which broke a 1-1 halftime stalemate with a trio of second-half scores. Greg Moulding had put D-R ahead in the eighth minute, converting a long feed from defender Jack Fisher. The Falcons (4-2, 4-1) next entertain Wareham Monday.

Holbrook 2, Tri-County 1

HOLBROOK - The Cougars, held scoreless through the first half of play, were unable to generate a true scoring chance over the final 20 minutes of the Mayflower League match in losing at Holbrook.

Holbrook took a one-goal lead by intermission and then netted the match-winner as a result of a Cougar defensive miscue midway through the second half. Drew Flamenco scored the tying goal for Tri-County early in the second half in the 45th minute, Jake Crowley assisting.

Midfielder Josh Strom played a solid two-way match for the Cougars, while Andrew Gregg was strong on the Tri-County side of the field defensively. Tri-County (2-2) entertains Upper Cape Friday.

Seekonk 7, Wareham 1

WAREHAM - Junior striker Norley Tabares scored three goals, all within the first 21 minutes of the South Coast Conference match, the trio creating a 3-0 lead for Seekonk, which went on to rout the Vikings. Tabares scored goals at the one-minute mark, at 16:30 and at 21:30 for the Warriors (2-2-1), senior midfielder Mike DaSilva collecting a pair of assists.

Josh Rainho added two goals, while Brendan Gouveia and goalie Zach Caron had single tallies. Caron started in net for the Warriors, while sophomore Cory Zimmerman took over in the second half, the duo having to make just three saves. Seekonk owned a 6-0 lead by halftime. The Warriors visit Coyle-Cassidy Friday.
