VOLLEYBALL: Shamrocks roll over Hilltoppers

FALL RIVER - The Bishop Feehan girls' volleyball team continues to look strong after trouncing host Durfee, 3-0, in a non-league match on Wednesday.

The Shamrocks (2-0) were never really threatened in winning 25-8, 25-11, 25-12.

Senior middle hitter Amy Lepley led Feehan with eight kills and three blocks, senior defensive specialist Jessica Nolan had 10 digs and two aces while junior right-side hitter Kait Kerrigan added three kills and two assists.

Feehan heads over to crosstown rival Attleboro for a non-league match Friday.

Oliver Ames 0

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The Rocketeers took control early and never allowed the Tigers to take a lead in winning the Hockomock League match, 25-21, 25-15, 25-16. Robin Armstrong paced North with nine service points and three kills.

Amy Chea and Katy Malone did some nice work in setting, while on the backline Meg Meyer and Katie O'Neil were outstanding. North, now 3-0, visits Franklin Friday.

Franklin 3, Foxboro 1

FOXBORO - Behind setter Michelle Cameron, the Warriors of Foxboro High prevailed in the opening game of the Hockomock League match. But Cameron came down with a shoulder injury at the outset of the third game and Foxboro was unable to generate a consistent attack in falling 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-19.

Brittany Stopa had four aces for Foxboro, while Samantha Briggs and Jenna Weiskerger also played well. The Warriors (1-1) host Canton Friday.

Sharon 3, King Philip 0

SHARON - The Warriors had problems with their service in falling 25-18, 26-24, 25-11 to Sharon in the Hockomock League match. KP played a terrific second game with Janessa Barrett having four straight service points and Caitlin Stetter having five blocks.

Brianna Souza totaled 35 digs for the Warriors, while Cara Daley (nine assists) and Meg Cronin (eight assists, five service points) also figured significantly in the KP attack. The Warriors (0-2) host Stoughton Friday.

Case 3, Seekonk 0
SWANSEA - Seekonk fell to South Coast Conference rival Case 25-13, 26-24, 25-16.

For the Warriors, Katie Halpin had 15 kills, Madison Burke had 26 assists and Rebecca Mattis played well defensively. The Warriors (0-2) entertain Fairhaven on Friday.

Dighton-Rehoboth 3, Coyle-Cassidy 2

TAUNTON - Sophomore Jane Duford accounted for four straight service points go give the Falcons a 9-5 advantage in the decisive fifth game as D-R held out for an exciting 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 24-26, 15-11 victory at Coyle-Cassidy in the non-league match.

Duford was successful on 28 of 30 service attempts with 11 aces for the Falcons (2-1). Meg Roy had 13 service points with six kills, while Sadie Gosselin added nine assists. D-R meets Case Friday.

Tri-County 3, Southeastern 1

FRANKLIN - The Cougars remained undefeated on the young season with a four-game Mayflower League victory over the Hawks.

After Southeastern tied the match with a 25-13 victory in Game 2, Ali White ripped off a six-point service run to spark the Cougars to a 25-11 victory. T-C closed out the match with a 25-21 win in Game 4.

Ashley Goode ripped off a nine-point service run in Game 1 to spark the Cougars to a 25-14 victory. Goode finished the day with 13 service points, nine digs, two assists and a kill. Goode had 16 total service points, seven digs and four kills.

The Cougars (3-0) entertain Holbrook on Friday.
