How much of a soaker was the weekend that ended up being a washout that cancelled many outdoor events?

The Attleboro area was hit with a whopping 4.51 inches of rain from Friday through this morning, according to the Attleboro Water Department.

Two waves of storms that moved into the region starting early Friday morning were projected to dump 3 to 6 inches.

With the rainfall, this month is expected to break the record for rainfall for September in the 69 years the water department has been keeping weather records.

As of 8 a.m. Monday, the last rainfall reading, rainfall for the month ran 10.62 inches. The record is 10.66 inches in 1944, but more rain fell after the morning reading. September usually sees about 4 inches.
The rain was initially expected to stop Sunday.

About 2 inches was registered for the Saturday and Sunday measurements.

The two storms were a coastal storm followed Sunday by Hurricane Kyle that remained over 100 miles off the New England coast before it headed toward Nova Scotia.

Despite the heavy rain this weekend, there were no reports of major flooding.

The high temperature Monday was 71 degrees, the water department said.

Today is forecast to have a high temp of 68 degrees, with a low of 53 tonight, AccuWeather said. Wednesday - the first day of October, is forecast to bring more rain.
