Top Headlines SEEKONK - Kathy Goldner, founder of Knitting Out Loud audiobook publishing company, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Seekonk Public Library. Halloween hike set at Caratunk SEEKONK - A Halloween hike will be held at the Audubon Society's Caratunk Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, Oct. 25. Participants will take a guided, mile-long hike through the night forest and encounter characters that will explore myths, legends, and creatures associated with Halloween. The event is suitable for young children and families. In the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors, where the skits will be performed in the nature center. Walks begin at 5:30 p.m., with groups going off every 10 minutes. Registration is required. Make a reservation by calling 401-949-5454, ext. 3041. Program fee is $9 member adults, $7 member children (12 and under); $14 non-member adults, $11/non-member children. Family four packs are available for $30 members, $40 non-members. Newman YMCA plans following activities SEEKONK - The following activities are planned at the Newman YMCA, which is located at 472 Taunton Ave. in Seekonk. Learn all about bird feeders SEEKONK - The Audubon Society's Caratunk Wildlife Refuge will hold a winter bird feeding program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6. Participants will learn from Audubon experts how to design a successful bird feeding station. The program explores different types of feeders, their placement, and other components such as plant selection and water in the landscape. There will be a slide show of many species that can be attracted to one's yard, as well as helpful information and identification tips. Program fee is $8 members, $12 non-members, for ages 18 and up. Church looking ahead to bazaar SEEKONK - Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Ave., will hold its Holly Faire Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Lunch begins at 11 a.m. The fair will feature a silent bid table, cookie corner, grandma's attic, bake shoppe, sewing/knitting/quilting corner, country store. Many helpers, donations and ideas are needed. Seekonk to hold flu clinic Nov. 10 SEEKONK - A flu clinic for high risk residents is being held Monday, Nov. 10. The event, sponsored by the board of health, requires an appointment. The clinic is restricted to: any resident over 65; any resident less than 65 who has a serious medical condition; women who will be pregnant during the flu season; healthcare personnel who provide direct patient care; and caregivers of children less than 6 months old.
