MATTAPOISETT - Sarah Demty's goal in the latter stages of the first half held up as the Seekonk High School field hockey team knocked off Old Rochester Regional in a South Coast Conference tussle, 1-0.

"It was a nice team effort, just what I was looking for," noted Seekonk coach Kim Pellerin, whose team played ORR to a scoreless tie the first time around. "I told the girls afterward that if we took care of our business the rest of the way we would be in good shape for the league.

Dempty scored in the 22nd minute of the first half, converting a corner by Lauren Medeiros.

Seekonk goalie Kristen Nolan needed to make just one save for the shutout, but ORR did manage 10 corners as well as one post hit in the second half. The Warriors (5-3-3, 5-0-3 SCC), who visit Apponequet on Monday, had five corners and six shots.

Franklin 2, Foxboro 1 FRANKLIN - A couple of defensive lapses allowed the Panthers to sneak away with a Hockomock League victory over the Warriors.

Just 55 seconds into the match, Franklin potted a goal following a defensive breakdown. The Warriors tied it at 26:27 as Ally Valenci scored out of a scramble in front of the net. The Panthers then scored out of a scramble at 22:23 of the second half.

Foxboro (5-5-1, 5-3-1 league) had its chances with nine penalty corners, including five in the first half. The Warriors entertain Canton on Tuesday.

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The Tigers scored second-half goals at the 4- and 25-minute marks to win the Hockomock League match. North was limited to four shots and had few solid scoring chances.

The Rocketeer defense, buoyed by Alli Achin, Kristen Bagarella and Hannah Hillsman, not only shut out the Tigers through the firsts half, but limited OA to just four shots overall. North (1-8-1) visits Franklin Tuesday.
