Top Headlines Gerald Genereux, 79 ATTLEBORO - Gerald N. Genereux, 79, of May Street passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 in the Garden Place Nursing Home, Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Page) Genereux. Born July 16, 1929 in Woonsocket, R.I., he was a son of the late Alfred and Ella (Dalpe) Genereux. Gerald has been a resident of South Attleboro for the past 11 years. He had previously resided in North Port, Fla., for four years, and lived most of his life in Bellingham. Mr. Genereux was a graduate of Bellingham High School and worked in hotel management for the Wyndham Investment Co. for 15 years before retirement. He volunteered for the Bellingham Fire Department for 25 years. Mr. Genereux loved eating out at restaurants and enjoyed finding new restaurants. He also loved playing cribbage with his father. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Andre Genereux of Bellingham; two daughters, Simone Genereux of Bellingham and Jeanne Genereux of Waltham; two step-sons, William and his wife Kathleen Simpson of South Attleboro and Larry and his wife Jill Simpson of Morganton, N.C.; a devoted nephew, Mark Genereux and his wife Linda; three nieces, Annemarie, Sue and Mitch Genereux; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Richard Genereux. A funeral will be held in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. followed by burial in Cook Cemetery, Woonsocket. Myrle Estey, 79 NORTH ATTLEBORO - Myrle A. (Dillon) Estey, R.N., of North Washington Street, North Attleboro, formerly of Rocklawn Avenue, Attleboro and a North Attleboro native, died of a "broken heart" on what would have been her 58th wedding anniversary, Sept. 16, 2008 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, where she had resided since January 2004. She was the wife of the late Elwin Guy "Skip" Estey, who died on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008. She married her devoted and caring husband and in more recent years her tireless caregiver on Sept. 16, 1950. Born in North Attleboro on Nov. 28, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William and Ivie (Dyer) Dillon. Raised and educated in her native North Attleboro, Mrs. Estey was a 1947 graduate of North Attleboro High School and a 1950 graduate of the former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Pawtucket. Mrs. Estey worked for more than 35 years as a registered nurse prior to her retirement in 1998, having worked for the medical practice of Dr. Ronald Germain and later his son, Dr. Bradford Germain, in Attleboro. She moved to Attleboro in 1978 from North Attleboro, and resided there until returning to North Attleboro in 2004. She was a member of Central Congregational Church in the village of Attleboro Falls, where she served her church community as a deacon and was a member of the women's union. She enjoyed gardening, but her greatest pleasure came from the time spent in the company of her beloved family and cherished friends. She was happiest when taking care of others. She leaves three children, Marcia A. Lamb of Attleboro, William A. Estey of North Attleboro and Steven G. Estey of Florence, Ky.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Dillon in Maine and Donald Dillon of North Attleboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elmer L. Dillon, who died on July 17, 2008. Rosita Sienkivicz, 37 MANSFIELD - Rosita Diana (Licciardi) Sienkivicz, 37, died unexpectedly at her home in Mansfield on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. Rosita was born in Norwood on July 4, 1971. She was raised in Foxboro and was a Foxboro High School graduate, Class of 1989. She was an administrative assistant for FM Global of Norwood for several years. Rosita was a loving and caring mother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed gardening, swimming and dancing. She was a former soccer coach in Mansfield and Woonsocket, R.I., and was an avid New England Patriots fan. She was the loving wife of Michael J. Sienkivicz; the beloved mother of Gabrielle and Victoria Beinars of Foxboro and Michael-John and Jeremy Sienkivicz of Mansfield; the devoted daughter of Rosita (Coulombe) and her husband Michael Sabbag of Bellingham; the sister of Gelineau and her husband John Andrews of Bourne; and the aunt of Edward and Shawn Liccardi and several other nieces and nephews. William Harrington Sr., 66 LAUREL, MD. - William Francis "Bill" Harrington Sr., 66, died peacefully Sept. 12, 2008 surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on Feb. 14, 1942 in Fall River to the late Harold F. Harrington, M.D. and Lillian J. (Duggan) Harrington. Mr. Harrington graduated from Attleboro High School, and, in 1963, earned a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish from Tufts University in Medford. He was a member of Tufts' chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He married the former Carmen Judith Rivera-Delgado and was stationed in the U.S. Army in Homestead, Fla. After being honorably discharged as a first lieutenant, he relocated to Laurel, Md., in 1969. He returned to the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Md., where he had worked as an analyst since 1965. Mr. Harrington had a curiosity about people, different cultures and languages, and was fluent in Spanish and Russian, along with knowledge in several other languages. He was a longtime golf enthusiast and, after injuring his back, enjoyed his online golf tournaments with his newly found British friends. He remained close with former colleagues and childhood friends. Mr. Harrington is survived by Carmen J. "Judy" Harrington, his wife of 40 years; his children, Sarah Harrington of Washington, D.C., Kelly Harrington of Arlington, Va. and Bill Harrington Jr. of Scaggsville, Md.; and his granddaughter, Ava Sofia Vasile, nephews Brian and Bill Harrington and niece Christine (Harrington) Gagne, all of Attleboro. Visitation will be held Sept. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave. A funeral Mass will be held Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. The burial will take place on Sept. 19 at 10:45 a.m. at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. Joseph Del Sesto ATTLEBORO - Col. (Ret.) Joseph Robert Del Sesto, 73, of South Attleboro, a retired colonel in the Rhode Island National Guard, died on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of Madeleine A. (Pollock) Del Sesto, to whom he was married on Feb. 16, 1969. Born in Providence on July 21, 1935, he was a son of the late Joseph P. and Lelia (Jackvony) Del Sesto. He resided in Providence and Cranston, R.I., before moving to South Attleboro in 1967. He attended the University of Rhode Island and Johnson & Wales College. He starred in baseball and basketball for St. Bartholomew in the Providence CYO League in the early '50s. He went on to play varsity baseball for Classical and Mount Pleasant high schools and played freshman baseball while at the University of Rhode Island. He was a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College. Col. Del Sesto was a self-employed structural steel detailer, estimator and consultant. He previously worked as a project manager, chief draftsman and estimator for several local steel fabricators and steel erection firms. He served in the Rhode Island National Guard and active Army for 39 years, serving in several assignments as company commander, battalion commander on three occasions, deputy brigade commander of the 43rd Military Police Brigade and inspector general of the Rhode Island National Guard. Col. Del Sesto was the commander of the 115th Military Police Company that was mobilized in 1968 as a result of the famous "Pueblo Incident" involving North Korea. The unit was sent to West Point for 19 months. Col. Del Sesto, along with several other members of the unit, volunteered for duty in the Republic of Vietnam, and spent most of 1969 in that country. Among his many awards and decorations were the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Rhode Island Star on two occasions, the Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. He was a member of the Rhode Island Military Academy Hall of Fame, the MP regimental Order of St. George, the Artillery Order of St. Barbara, the South Attleboro Lions, the South Attleboro American Legion, the Somerset Amvets and the Providence Marine Corps of Artillery. Col. Del Sesto was the past president of the Rhode Island National Guard Association. He was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, South Attleboro. In addition to his wife of 39 years, he leaves five sons: Joseph A. Del Sesto of Cranston, Gino J. Del Sesto of London, England, Rico E. Del Sesto of Los Alamos, N.M., Deno F. Del Sesto of Lexington and Julio G. of Keene, N.H.; two daughters, Lori Del Sesto of Cranston and Robin Farceau of Cranston; and seven grandchildren, including Ashley Del Sesto and two new ones this year: Emiliana Del Sesto of Lexington and Lilia Del Sesto of Keene.
