Top Headlines Barbara Bowers, 83 SEEKONK - Barbara A. Bowers, 83, of Park Street, Attleboro, formerly of Willis Avenue, Seekonk, died Monday in the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Alexander L. Bowers Sr., who passed away in 2001. She was born in Lynn, a daughter of the late Maurice T. and Minnie M. (Chisolm) Briggs. She had lived in Seekonk for 45 years and was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Seekonk, where she was very active in church affairs, including the Missionary Society, and had taught Sunday School. After graduating from college, she taught elementary school in Washington state for three years. She leaves three sons, Alexander L. Bowers Jr. and his wife Peg of Sandy Hook, Conn., and Jon M. and his wife Susan A. Bowers and Mark C. and his wife Lesley A. Bowers, both of Attleboro; one brother, George C. Briggs of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mary D. Clark of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Steven, Chelsea, Courtney and Jamie; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St. (Route 152), Attleboro followed by a service at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Ave., Seekonk, MA 02771. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours with a video tribute will be in the Foley Chapel on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Memorial Baptist Church would be appreciated. Sue Bonaparte, 95 ATTLEBORO - Sue Mary (Pedini) Bonaparte of Attleboro died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at the Golden Living Center of Attleboro. She was 95. Mrs. Bonaparte was the loving wife of the late Lester Gleason and the late Batista Bonaparte. Born in Italy on Feb. 27, 1913, Mrs. Bonaparte was the daughter of the late Augusto and Ida (Ceccardi) Pedini. In 1920, Mrs. Bonaparte immigrated to the United States from Italy onboard the ship Duca D'Aosta to join her father, who had already immigrated to Boston. After the 11-day voyage, she arrived at Ellis Island, N.Y., with her mother, three brothers and only $55. The family later settled in Mansfield. She is survived by her son, Daniel Gleason of Covina, Calif., and her daughter Sharon (Gleason) Paquin of Natick. Mrs. Bonaparte is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be held privately in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield. Arrangements are through the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main St., Mansfield. Robert Ash PLYMOUTH - Robert "Bob" Irvin Ash of Plymouth and Boston passed away suddenly at his home in Plymouth on Sept. 14. He was born in Martinsburg, W.Va., and spent his childhood years in Shepherdstown, W.Va. Bob was the president of Ashworth Consultants Inc., a managing consulting and executive search firm. He graduated from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and received his MBA from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania. He was a certified public accountant. Bob served as a lieutenant on destroyers in the U.S. Navy. Prior to establishing Ashworth Consultants Inc., in 1982, he directed the technical recruiting program for the Foxboro Company and subsequently was a manager on the consulting staff of Arthur Young & Company (Ernst & Young), where he conducted scores of executive searches. Bob was a vice president at Heffelfinger Associates Inc., serving the computer communications and information services industries. He was a frequent speaker at professional meetings and authored articles on career planning and compensation. Listed in "Who's Who in the East" and "Who's Who in Finance and Industry," Bob was a CPA and served on the editorial board of the Massachusetts CPA Review. Bob was a former adjunct professor at several area universities and colleges, including Bentley College, The University of Massachusetts at Boston, Suffolk University, Simmons College, Bunker Hill Community College, The University of Rhode Island and Massasoit Community College. Bob also served as the former cub master for the Boy Scouts in Plainville. He recently was elected to the Resident Advisory Committee, Winslowe's View, The Pinehills in Plymouth. He leaves his wife of 37 years, Barbara Lee (Fox) Ash of Plymouth and Boston. He is also survived by his sister, Nila Ash Saylor of Front Royal, Va.; his nieces, Nan A. Saylor of Front Royal, Jo Anna Chapman of Smithfield, Va., Lou Alice Sykes of Edenton, N.C. and Shannon P. Fox of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and his nephews, Garrett E. Fox of Hermosa Beach, Calif. and Adam F. Fox of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by grand nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert Ash may be made to the Dr. I. O.
