Fear is here, so let's work with it
Top Headlines Our fears are not all skin deep. The world is an immense place with billions of people, and we fear being forgotten. We want to be remembered, make a difference and maybe change the world. The childhood dreams of becoming whatever we want fade as we realize many of the things we would have given anything for mean nothing. We fear that 50 years from now, we will look back on a life wasted. We know there's always a tomorrow, but what if there isn't? Will we have made a difference in even one person's life? Will at least one person think of us and for just a second, mourn over our loss? We fear being alone. Will we be alone in our old age, wishing we had taken that one chance that could've changed our lives? We want to conform ourselves so everyone will accept us, but we need to learn to accept ourselves first. Our own opinions plague us. Why do we want so badly to conform? Why must we hide ourselves from everyone in order to be accepted? Fear. We fear time. We want to do all there is to do, feel all there is to feel, and not miss a thing. Why at such a young age do we fear the heavy effects of time? In our teenage years we have our own mid-life crisis. Pressure is put on us to find the perfect college, get the perfect grades, and then do something that will change the world. What if we can't? Most people don't, yet we still are the future. What we do affects not only ourselves but generations into the future. Why wouldn't we fear such immense responsibility? Most of all, we fear being the only person responsible for ourselves. Fear is automatically given a negative connotation, but why? If the children of tomorrow, who are sooner than not going to be our leaders, were to fear nothing, it would not be a world anyone would want to live in. Fear brings us back to reality and helps center us. We need to stop questioning our fears and accept them because they become the protective boundaries of our lives, keeping us heading in the right direction.
