Top Headlines Carol Hamilton, 74 NORTH ATTLEBORO - Carol J. Hamilton, 74, of Blackberry Road passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 21, 2008 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Born June 17, 1934 in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Raymond E. Jordan, former lieutenant governor of Rhode Island, and the late Charlotte (Merrill) Jordan. Carol was a longtime resident of Pawtucket before moving to North Attleboro 13 years ago. She graduated from the Lincoln School in Providence in 1952 and then Pembroke College (now Brown University) in 1956. She had also attended the Rhode Island School of Design. Carol worked as an editor for Paramount Greeting Cards in Central Falls, R.I., for over 30 years before retiring in 1986. She was a devoted mother and a wonderful supporter of her sons and their families lives and interests. She loved the beach and owned a home in Westport, where she summered for many years. She is survived by two sons, Bruce and his wife Patricia Hamilton of Mansfield and Brian and his wife Rosie Hamilton of North Attleboro; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Christopher, Brendan and Melodie Hamilton; and a devoted friend and sister-of-the-heart, Nancy Barteau-Fish of North Attleboro. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro at 11 a.m. The Rev. Maryalice Sullivan will officiate. An hour of visitation will be held immediately prior to the service in the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006. (Gamache) LePage, 94, of Englewood, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. She was the wife of the late Joseph Alphonse "Al" LePage. Born in Attleboro, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Mary (Audet) Gamache and was the youngest of 13 children. Known as "Dot" to her friends, she was a resident of the Attleboros most of her life and was a communicant at St. Joseph's Church in Attleboro and Sacred Heart Church in North Attleboro. She had lived in Englewood since 2002. She retired from Texas Instruments after 21 years in 1971, but could not "just hang around and do nothing." She worked part time for a number of years at the Richards Memorial Library in North Attleboro until 2001, when she finally retired for good at the age of 86. During this time she also had a weekly routine of volunteering at three area nursing homes, where she would "visit and play cards with the old folks." She greatly enjoyed being with family and friends, her summer cottage in Maine, playing cards and loved to laugh. Young at heart, she always saw her glass as more than half-full and willingly shared her great big heart with everyone. She is survived by a son, Albert LePage and his wife Diane of Frye Island, Maine; a son, Ronald Penney and his wife Jane of Zephyerhills, Fla.; a granddaughter, Dori Mann and her husband Paul of Englewood, who were loving caregivers during her later years; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings, including Lida LeBlanc, Edwidge Frenier, Laura Gaulin, Mary Jalbert and Edgar Gamache; a daughter, Joan Sampson; and sons Frederick and Robert Penney. A memorial service will be held at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery on West Street in Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Book Fund at the Richards Memorial Library, 118 North Washington St., North Attleboro, MA 02760.
