Top Headlines Jeanne Masci, 60 WAKEFIELD, R.I. - Jeanne E. Masci, 60, of Sea View Avenue, Wakefield, R.I., died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at home. She was the wife of Peter J. Masci. Born in Middletown, N.Y., she was a daughter of Francis and Kathleen (Imholtz) Edwards of Middletown. Mrs. Masci was a certified teacher who worked in various positions in early childhood development. She is survived by a son and his wife, Peter J. Jr. and Jennifer (Coffey) Masci of Franklin; a daughter, Jessica K. Masci of Wakefield, Mass.; a grandson, Peter J. Masci III; a brother, Thomas Edwards of Apex, N.C.; and two sisters, June Voegelin of Walden, N.Y. and Carol Bianchi of Westbrookville, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale, R.I. "Bucky" Fontaine Jr., 60, of Royal Avenue, Warwick, a former longtime North Attleboro resident, died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence from injuries suffered when he and his wife were struck by a vehicle while riding their motorcycle on Allen Avenue in Providence on Aug. 31, 2008. He was the husband of Karolyn A. (Gariepy) Fontaine, to whom he was married on Feb. 19, 1966 and who is recovering from the injuries she suffered in the accident. Born in Pawtucket on Aug. 14, 1948, he was the son of Leo A. "Bucky" Fontaine Sr. and Beatrice (Oliviera) Fontaine, both of North Attleboro. He was raised and educated in North Attleboro, where he attended St. Mary's School and was a 1966 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He was employed for a short time at Texas Instruments in Attleboro in 1966 and later joined his father's business, Bucky's Appliances, in Central Falls, R.I. For the last 42 years, he was the owner and operator of the family-run business. Mr. Fontaine moved to Warwick four years ago after having been a lifelong North Attleboro resident. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro. Mr. Fontaine enjoyed the peace and tranquility reflected in lighthouses. His family was of the utmost importance to him and he treasured the time creating memories with them. In earlier years he was active in the drag racing circuit along the East Coast. He enjoyed boating and time spent on the water and motorcycling. In addition to his wife of 42 years and his parents, he leaves a daughter, Tammy L. St. Pierre and her husband Bob St. Pierre of South Thomaston, Maine; a son, Leo A. "Bucky" Fontaine III and his wife Dawn M. (Cahill) St. Pierre of North Attleboro; four grandchildren: Katie St. Pierre and Jacob St. Pierre, both of South Thomaston, Maine and Bradley Fontaine and Meghan Fontaine, both of North Attleboro; a sister, Linda L. Tomas of North Attleboro; and a brother, Robert A. Fontaine of North Attleboro. Rose Wojciechowski, 93 NORTH ATTLEBORO - Rose Wojciechowski of North Attleboro passed away in her own home on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 with family at her side. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Wojciechowski. She was daughter of the late Mary Ellen and Joseph Dupelle of Canada and was born on May 23, 1915. Throughout her working years, she was employed by the North Attleboro school department and by Reeves Drugstore, a former landmark in North Attleboro center. Most of all, Rose loved caring for her home and family. Rose is survived by her daughter, Jean LaCasse and son Frank Wojciechowski and his wife Mary, all of North Attleboro; and grandchildren Adele Lamond of Attleboro, Scott LaCasse of California, Michele LaCasse of Taunton, Traci Wojciechowski of Pawtucket and Greg Wojciechowski of North Attleboro. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rose was the sister of Hedley Dupelle of North Attleboro and the late Dorothy Rioux and late Thomas Dupelle. A private graveside committal service will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Attleboro Falls, and the arrangements have been made by Sperry and McHoul Funeral Home of North Attleboro. Ella Tall/Gallant, 62 FOXBORO - Ella Tall, 62, of Foxboro, beloved wife of Geoffrey Gallant, died at home on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Caribou, Maine on March 21, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Axel and Verna (Hjelm) Tall. She was a graduate of the University of Maine and became a registered dietitian following a dietetic internship at Ramsey Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. She received her master's in public health from the University of Minnesota. Her career in clinical nutrition began in Rhode Island, where she worked as the state nutritionist, and later became the first director of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program for the State of Rhode Island. Ella also served as the president of the Rhode Island Dietetics Association. The majority of her career was spent caring for patients as a clinical dietitian at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. She was actively involved in the dietetic internship program at Beth Israel, where she trained and mentored many dietetic interns. Ella was a proud Swedish-American and enjoyed photography, cats and classical music. Her greatest joy came from her family and friends. Ella's quiet ways, thoughtfulness and generosity will be missed by all. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sisters: Sylvia Mattson of Stockholm, Maine, Carolyn Drugge of Chesterville, Maine, Marion Buss of Big Rapids, Mich., and Alice Noyes of Avon, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Danielle Guimaraes of Canaan, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. Mitchell died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a long battle with lymphoma. He was the son of the late John A. and Mildred B. (Sheffield) Mitchell. Richard was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa and raised in Sharon. He graduated from Sharon High School and attended Northeastern University. Richard married his wife Linda at his home in Sharon on Jan. 15, 1961. Richard was the owner and president of Mitch's Repair Service in Norfolk for 37 years. He retired in 2005. He ran the 12 step program and Bible studies for Prison Fellowship Ministries at Norfolk Prison. In 1990, he was elected Volunteer of the Year for Prison Ministries. He was a member and former deacon, trustee and mission leader for the Sharon Evangelical Baptist Church. He was also a member of Gideon's International. He was the beloved husband of Linda A. (Pierce) Mitchell; the loving father of James and his wife Jeanne of Florida, Jeffrey and his wife Joan of North Attleboro and Jennifer and her husband Steven Pont of Virginia; the devoted grandfather of Laura, Bryan, Sarah and Carly Mitchell; the brother of Jon and his wife Susan of Maine, Nan Parker and Nita and her husband Earl, all of Iowa, and the late Charles W. Mitchell and Faye A. Bartlett; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ruth Walker, 82 ATTLEBORO - Ruth Mae (Walsh) Walker, 82, of Paulette Lane, Attleboro, died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence after having been stricken ill three days earlier. She was the wife of the late George Clifford Walker, to whom she was married on May 3, 1947 and entered into eternal rest on Jan. 11, 1977. Born in Attleboro on May 11, 1926, Mrs. Walker was a daughter of the late Grace (Walsh) Bristol and was lovingly raised by her maternal grandfather, Patrick Walsh. Raised and educated in Attleboro, she was a 1944 graduate of Attleboro High School and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church when it was in the Hebronville section of the city and then when it moved to Seekonk, and in more recent years attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro. Mrs. Walker was employed by the Bellavance Company in Attleboro as an assembler for many years prior to her retirement, and she later returned to work part time for the company. She was a member of the PEAL Club and enjoyed the time spent playing bingo, cooking and creating arts and crafts with needlepoint and cross stitching. Her greatest treasure came from the time spent with her beloved family creating treasured memories. She leaves five children: William G. Walker of Attleboro, Carol A. Fagnand of St. Cloud, Fla., Nancy A. Maslen, with whom she resided, of Attleboro, Robert F. Walker of Attleboro and Richard A. Walker of Berkley; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was the sister of the late Robert Bristol. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Valentine; his father, Stanley David Murray Jr. of New Orleans, La.; a daughter, Destiny Brotherton of Chatham, Ill.; two sisters, Kelly Murray and Kathryn Valentine, both of Springfield, Ill.; his grandparents, Marilyn Lamboi Brunk of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and Stan Murray of Mansfield; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Therese Jette, 86 ATTLEBORO - Therese I. Jette, 86, of Park Street, Attleboro died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was born in Attleboro, a daughter of the late Damase and Addie (Sabourin) Jette. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School, and was a lifelong resident of Attleboro and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She had been an insurance agent for several Attleboro insurance agencies for many years before she retired. She leaves two sisters, Gertrude Miller and Alice and her husband John Hannan, all of Attleboro, and 13 nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rene, Joseph, Raymond and Omer Jette and Simone Arenburg. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St. (Route 152), Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 208 South Main St., Attleboro.
