Top Headlines Leo Fontaine, 60 - Leo A. "Bucky" Fontaine Jr., 60, of Royal Avenue, Warwick, R.I.; a former longtime North Attleboro resident, died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence from injuries sustained when he and his wife were struck by a vehicle while riding their motorcycle on Allen Avenue in Providence on Aug. 31, 2008. He was the husband of Karolyn A. (Gariepy) Fontaine, to whom he was married on Feb. 19, 1966 and who is recovering from the injuries she sustained in the accident. WARWICK, R.I. Born in Pawtucket on Aug. 14, 1948, he was the son of Leo A. "Bucky" Fontaine Sr. and Beatrice (Oliviera) Fontaine, both of North Attleboro. He was raised and educated in North Attleboro, where he attended St. Mary's School and was a 1966 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He was employed for a short time at Texas Instruments in Attleboro in 1966 and later joined his father's business, Bucky's Appliances, in Central Falls, R.I. For the last 42 years, he was the owner and operator of the family-run business. Mr. Fontaine moved to Warwick four years ago after having been a lifelong North Attleboro resident. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro. Mr. Fontaine enjoyed the peace and tranquility reflected in lighthouses. His family was of the utmost importance to him and he treasured the time creating memories with them. In earlier years, he was active in the drag racing circuit along the East Coast. He enjoyed boating and time spent on the water and motorcycling. In addition to his wife of 42 years and his parents, he leaves a daughter, Tammy L. St. Pierre and her husband Bob St. Pierre of South Thomaston, Maine; a son, Leo A. "Bucky" Fontaine III and his wife Dawn M. (Cahill) Fontaine, of North Attleboro; four grandchildren, Katie St. Pierre and Jacob St. Pierre, both of South Thomaston and Bradley Fontaine and Meghan Fontaine, both of North Attleboro; a sister, Linda L. Tomas of North Attleboro; and a brother, Robert A. Fontaine of North Attleboro. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David Costa, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. A children's room will be available during visitation. Following Mass, family and friends will be welcomed to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name and honor to an organization started by the Fontaine family to assist children battling cancer, the Peanut Butter & Jelly Foundation, by making a donation at any branch of Citizens Bank. (Kreuschner) Cuoco of North Attleboro died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 in the Mount St. Rita Health Care Center, Cumberland, R.I. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave., Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. William Chartier, 79 - William H. Chartier, 79, died Aug. 20, 2008 in Altamonte Springs, Fla. He was the husband of Gloria M. Chartier, to whom he was married on Aug. 1, 1953 in Mansfield. FLORIDA Born in Attleboro on Sept. 4, 1929, he was the son of the Gretchen (Kaiser) and Louis Chartier. He was educated in the Attleboro public schools. William was a member of the University Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Orlando, Fla. He had three children: Frances A. (Chartier) Senecal of Maine, Prescott W. Chartier Sr. of Pawtucket and Donald R. Chartier of Attleboro. William worked for several businesses in his lifetime, first at Attleboro Print and Embossing, Henry Lewis Co., Augat Inc., Leach and Garner and Stern Leach, retiring from Stern Leach in 1995. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He moved from Attleboro to Florida in 1995. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, corner of Elmwood and Dennis streets, Attleboro. He will be buried in Shirley Village Cemetery, Shirley, Mass. Arrangements are by Woodlawn Funeral Home, Orlando, Fla.
