Top Headlines PLAINVILLE - The Plainville United Methodist Church, 16 East Bacon St., is busy with plans for their Annual Country Fair. As in past years, the fair will be held on two days. Friday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. o 2 p.m. This year, the fair will include a silent auction, fresh-baked pies, home-made gifts, candy, Christmas items, jewelry, books, an attic shop, country store and antiques. Rita is back with her chicken pie luncheon at $7, served on Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Saturday, the lunch will feature clam cakes and chowder along with hot dogs and all the fixings. Pay library fines with food donations PLAINVILLE - The Plainville Public Library wants to help the Plainville Food Pantry fill its shelves. For two weeks only, Sept. 29 through Oct. 11, library fines may be paid with non-perishable food. One non-perishable food item equals the fine on one library item. Book sales coming at Plainville library PLAINVILLE - The Friends of the Plainville Public Library will hold their annual book sale on Friday, Oct. 17 with a Friends' preview sale from 6 to 8 p.m. People can become a members of the Friends that evening at the door. Membership fees are students/seniors, $5, individuals, $10, family, $15, business, $25, or patron, $50. Refreshments will be served. The public sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. The Children's Room will be closed due to the book sale. The book sale will continue in front of the circulation desk during normal library hours from Oct. 20 to 25, for fiction books, and Oct. 27 to Nov. 1, for nonfiction books. Help field fundraising committee PLAINVILLE - The Plainville Park Department is looking for residents that would be interested in fund raising for Phase 2 of "Field of Dreams" Phase 1 which includes two Babe Ruth size fields and a 180 X 300 yd soccer field will be seeded this spring. We hope to be able to play on these fields by the spring of 09. A smaller practice soccer field still needs to be graded, irrigated and seeded. Phase 2 will include two little league size fields, a 210 X 330 yd soccer field, a building that will house a snack bar, rest rooms and a maintenance building. KP Class of 1961 plans 50th reunion WRENTHAM - The King Philip Regional High School of 1961 is working on plans for its 50th reunion. Tentative plans are for a three day weekend reunion from April 29-May 1, 2011. Efforts are under way to locate classmates and formulate additional plans.
