BOYS' SOCCER: Diamand's gem lifts KP over Rocketeers

WRENTHAM - Senior midfielder Joel Diamand scored a pair of first-half goals and set up Chris Brennan for the match-winner as the King Philip Regional High boys' soccer team downed defending champion North Attleboro 3-0 Friday.

Brennan gave KP the lead in the fifth minute of play, taking a through ball from Diamand. Diamond then was on the receiving end of a Brennan pass for the Warriors' second goal in the 25th minute and then scored out of a scramble in the 31st minute.

KP (9-3-1) qualified for the MIAA Tournament with the victory. North is now 9-3-1. KP visits Mansfield Monday, while North entertains Sharon.

Seekonk 4, Wareham 0

SEEKONK - Senior midfielder Mike DaSilva scored a pair of first-half goals, both within a four-minute span, as the Warriors were relentless in attacking Wareham in winning the South Coast Conference match. In improving to 6-6-2 on the season, Seekonk moved to within four points of qualifying for the MIAA Tournament. The Warriors next travel to Bourne Monday for a 7 p.m. match.

DaSilva put Seekonk ahead at 23:30 with a 20-yard blast to the top left corner and then created a two-goal advantage at 27:24 with a 35-yard drive to the top right corner.

"We were flat in the first half, we struggled," said Seekonk coach Jeff Creamer of the Warriors being unable to finish off a flurry of scoring chances. Brandon Gouveia (at 42) and Edgar Lopez (at 75) netted second half goals for Seekonk.

Bishop Feehan 5,

Plymouth North 1

PLYMOUTH - Freshman striker Devin Devoy accounted for a second-half hat trick, while Dan Galvin scored a pair of first-half goals and collected two assists as the Shamrocks (8-3-1) moved to within a point of qualifying for the MIAA Tournament.

Galvin scored first-half goals at 10:58 and at 33:15 (assisted by Liam Doherty). Then Galvin set up second-half goals by Devoy at 4:30 and at 33. Devoy netted his second goal of the match at the six-minute mark, assisted by Doherty.

"We did a nice job passing the ball, we created all kinds of opportunities," said Feehan coach Mike Pariseau. "We were patient, we were smart." The Shamrocks next take on Somerset Tuesday.

Foxboro 0, Sharon 0

FOXBORO - The Warriors kept their postseason hopes alive by battling the Eagles to a scoreless tie in the Hockomock League match. Foxboro totaled seven shots and three corner kicks, the attack being generated by some superb all around play from midfielder Jason Stather. Sean McLaughlin totaled three saves in goal for Foxboro in posting the shutout. Sharon was without Hockomock League-leading scorer Andrew Revaneles, sitting out a red-card suspension, incurred during the final minute of a non-league match at Bishop Feehan earlier in the week. Foxboro (5-5-3) visits Stoughton Monday.
