PAWTUCKET - A Rhode Island man has been charged in the Nov. 3 robbery of a downtown bank.
Pawtucket Detective Lt. Daniel Mullen alleged Robert Major entered the Sovereign Bank at 215 Main St. and passed a teller a note indicating he had a gun and demanding money, although he never displayed a weapon.
The teller ducked behind the counter, and the robber left empty-handed.
Police arrested Major, 53, whose last known address was in Cumberland, R.I., on Thursday and charged him with robbery.
The arrest occurred shortly after the suspect was discharged from a Rhode Island medical facility, Mullen said.
Major had been admitted for issues unrelated to the robbery, Mullen said.
Police identified Major from bank video and from a flyer they released, Mullen said.
