ATTLEBORO - A 28-year-old man pleaded innocent Monday in Attleboro District Court to charges he indecently touched a 22-year-old woman earlier this month outside a city restaurant where they were at Karaoke Night.
James Perry of Ashland, faces a charge of indecent assault and battery and was expected to post $500 cash bail set for his release.
The alleged incident occurred Nov. 9 in the parking lot of the Moose Cabin restaurant on O'Neill Boulevard, but was not reported until the following day, police said.
The 22-year-old woman said she went to her car to get a cigarette and was met by a man she knew only by his first name and as a regular at Karaoke Night.
The man left when another car approached after the alleged assault, the woman told police officers.
Perry was arrested at the police station Sunday after an investigation by officer Michael MacNeil and Detective Sgt. Arthur Brillon.
Assistant District Attorney Jessica Lennon said Perry made admissions to police during questioning after initially denying touching the woman.
But his lawyer, Richard Silva of Fall River, said his client' account differs from what the woman said occurred.
"There are inconsistencies on what happened," Silva said.
Perry is due back in court Feb. 6.
