ATTLEBORO - Police say an alleged drunken driver struck two parked cars and nearly collided head-on with another car in an attempt to leave the accident scene on South Main Street late Sunday night.
The driver, Hector Orantes, 43, of Pawtucket, pleaded innocent Monday in Attleboro District Court to drunken driving, driving to endanger, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and failing to drive within marked lanes.
No injuries were reported in the 11:50 p.m. accident.
Police allege Orantes was traveling north on South Main Street when he crashed into two cars in the parking lot of Claudino's Auto Repair at 310 South Main St.
Police also allege Orantes continued driving north in the southbound lanes with his headlights off when another car swerved to avoid a collision.
Officer Stephen Graney found Orantes in his car nearby in a wooded area. He was arrested after an investigation by Graney and officers Brett Poirier, Keith Bussiere, Brian Kelly and William Monterosso. He was released without bail and is due back in court Jan. 6.
