Third man charged in tire theft scheme

NORTH ATTLEBORO - A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of tires and other merchandise from Sears Automotive where two suspects were employed until the alleged thefts were discovered.

Michael Chen, 21, of the Roslindale section of Boston, was arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court on larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny charges following an investigation by Detective Daniel Arrighi.

Chen is accused of stealing four tires and being given a radar detector and a walkie-talkie while employed at Sears for one month in October, according to police. Chen brought the alleged stolen merchandise, valued at $974, to the police station Sunday night, police said.

Chen was a friend of another employee, Sean C. Wilcox, 20, of Pawtucket, who was arraigned last week on charges of stealing tires valued at $2,270. Jared Boulais, 18, also of Pawtucket and a friend of Wilcox, was also arraigned last week.

He was not employed by Sears but allegedly helped Wilcox steal the tires from a storage trailer, police said.
