Revs trade away Cristman

FOXBORO - Forward Adam Cristman, injured through the second half of the 2008 season, was traded by the New England Revolution to the Kansas City Wizards.

In addition, the Revolution left first-year defender Gabirel Badilla, midfielders Khano Smith and Pat Phelan, defender Chris Tierney, goalie Doug Warren and forward Wells Thompson among a dozen players from its current roster exposed for the MLS Dispersal Draft to fill the roster of the new Seattle franchise.

With Cristman going to Kansas City, new England received allocation money and the Wizards' third-round selection in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.

The 23-year-old Cristman was originally selected by the Revolution in the fourth round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft out of Virginia. In 46 career games, he scored 10 goals and added five assists. He was one of three finalists for the league's 2007 rookie of the year award.

The Glen Allen, Va., product scored six goals in 18 appearances in 2008, before missing the final three months of the season after undergoing season-ending surgery on his toe. With the trade, the Revolution now have seven selections in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, including two picks in the first round, two in the second and two in the third.
